Wonderful class in a... - Wonderful class in a beautiful space. I really enjoyed learning about the history of Chinese characters and making my own beautiful fan. Lucy was very attentive and made sure I was happy with the finished calligraphy.

A Relaxing and Inspiring Calligraphy Session with Lucy ✍️ - I booked a two-hour calligraphy session with my friend Kiel, and it turned out to be one of the most relaxing and creatively fulfilling experiences we've had in a while! Lucy, our teacher, was brilliant – warm, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made us feel at ease right from the start and guided us through the basics with clear instructions and plenty of encouragement. You can tell she’s genuinely passionate about calligraphy, and it shines through in her teaching. The session was well-paced, with a nice balance of technique, practice, and creativity. We started with foundational strokes and then worked our way to writing words and phrases. Lucy provided high-quality materials; we even got to take some home to keep practising. What I loved was how calming the whole experience was – it felt like a much-needed break from the usual chaos. Kiel and I left feeling proud of what we’d created and inspired to keep going. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique, hands-on experience – whether you're a complete beginner or want to try something new with a friend. Thanks, Lucy!

Such a fun and insightful session on calligraphy! - The calligraphy class with Lucy was such a cool and insightful session. We were the only ones who had booked the class, so we got 1:1 history lesson on the development of Chinese calligraphy throughout time, and we learned so much about Chinese history, dynasties, etc. The painting part of the class was so much fun, and we each did a piece of Chinese wallpaper decor to take with us home. Such a cool memory to have in Shanghai. Would really recommend anyone to go!

Amazing cultural experience in Shanghai - We finished our trip to China with this two hour class. The first hour was Lucy explaining the history and background to calligraphy, which really gave us a great appreciation for the artistry and made it easier when we started to practice in the second hour! Lucy was very kind, patient and helpful and we felt this experience taught us a lot about Chinese culture and art. Would highly recommend for anyone who loves art and/or cultural experiences!

Great intro to Chinese calligraphy - This artist is one of the nicest, most patient and informative teachers we have ever interacted with. My kids (all 3-ages 5,9,12) all walked away with a great memory of China. They still talk about it.

Lucy was knowledgeable,... - Lucy was knowledgeable, kind, and a good teacher! We had a marvelous time learning about some famous Chinese calligraphy and trying our hand at it ourselves. A great, reasonably priced experience in a convenient location near Jing An. Absolutely recommend!

Interesting and Insightful Chinese Calligraphy Experience - The lesson was extremely fun! It was interesting to learn about the four main items in Calligraphy, and to look at some famous Calligraphers' works. Lucy is patient and passionate, and it was an excellent time learning Chinese Calligraphy!
