Confucius Temple - The driver will transport you from your hotel in Shanghai to the Train Station. Board the morning train to Tai’an, which takes approximately 4 hours.

Upon arrival, the local tour guide will be waiting for you at the exit of the arrival hall, holding a sign with your name.

Enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant. Your first destination is the Temple of Confucius, originally constructed in 478 BC to honor Confucius. Over the centuries, the temple has been rebuilt multiple times, undergoing 15 major renovations, 31 significant repairs, and numerous minor modifications. More than 300 structures were erected during the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The temple was designed following the specifications for imperial palaces, featuring yellow roof tiles and red-painted walls, surrounded by dark-green pine trees to create a striking color contrast.

Wander through the halls and courtyards with your tour guide, learn about the architectural symbolism, admire the statue of Confucius, visit the stone tablets, steles, and pavilions, and explore Confucius’ life and the rich history and culture associated with him.

Kong Mansion - Next, stroll through the small market to explore the Kong Family Mansion. The descendants of Confucius resided here and were responsible for conducting elaborate religious ceremonies for events such as plantings, harvests, honoring the deceased, and birthdays. The first mansion was built in 1038 and was originally directly connected to the temple. The mansion was inhabited by Confucius’ descendants until 1937. Today, it consists of 152 buildings with 480 rooms.

Confucius’ Parents’ Cemetery - The final stop is the Confucian Cemetery, which has served as the family burial ground for Confucius and his descendants for over two thousand years. It is the largest, oldest, and best-preserved single-family cemetery in China. Known as the Forest of Confucius due to the abundance of trees, over 20,000, it features numerous tombstones, temples, pavilions, and sculptures. Approximately 3,600 tombstones from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties remain standing in the cemetery.

After the tour concludes, you will be transferred to your hotel in Qufu.

Qufu- Tai’an-Shanghai(B. L)

Taishan Geological Park - Your tour guide and driver will meet you in the hotel lobby and travel directly to Mount Tai, a journey of about 1.5 hours.

From the Taishan Tourist Center, take the shuttle bus to the halfway point on the mountain - Mid-Heaven Gate (Zhongtianmen), which takes about 30 minutes.

Then, take the panoramic cable car to the South Heaven Gate (Nantianmen), offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding peaks.

Accompanied by your tour guide, explore the Jade Emperor Peak. Admire the stone tablets and inscriptions in the area. Visit the Jade Emperor Temple, built in honor of the Jade Emperor of Taoism. Discover the Bixia Temple, constructed in 1008 during the Song Dynasty. It is a masterpiece of Taoist architecture and showcases the high level of ancient Chinese construction. Gain insights into the history of Taoism in China and its cultural influence.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Descend from the Jade Emperor Peak to the base of the mountain. Your tour guide will escort you to Tai’an Railway Station for your bullet train ride back to Shanghai. You also have the option to conclude your tour in Tai’an or Qufu when booking.
