Source of the Nile - Speke Monument - Day 1: Welcome to Uganda! Meet the guide/driver at Entebbe Airport who will transfer you to your hotel in Jinja. Jinja is Uganda’s second largest town after Kampala and is home to the source of the mighty Nile River, Bujagali Falls, and numerous industries. It is situated on the northern shore of Lake Victoria, near Ripon Falls and Owen Falls Dam. The drive to Jinja passes through Mabira Forest, which is home to various primates like the grey-cheeked mangabey and red-tailed monkey, as well as butterfly and bird species such as Nahan’s francolin, localized forest wood-hoopoe, and African pitta. Mabira is a unique ornithological site in Uganda. Continue to Jinja to explore the source of the Nile, the spot where Speke first viewed Ripon Falls in 1862.

Whitewater Rafting on the Nile
Bujagali Falls - After breakfast, embark on an exciting whitewater rafting adventure at Bujagali Falls, one of Uganda’s most popular spots for rafting and kayaking. These rapids extend about 10km downstream from the source of the Nile, making it an ideal location for water sports.
Journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Uganda Equator - Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. This park is rich in wildlife, including gazelles, Uganda kob, warthogs, and waterbucks. Lions are frequently seen both inside and at the park’s entrance. Be ready to encounter large numbers of hippos and elephants, and keep an eye out for a leopard basking in the sun.
Kasenyi Plains Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Before sunrise, embark on a game drive in the park to search for predators and nocturnal animals returning to their hideouts. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, side-striped jackals, hyenas, leopards, lions, warthogs, Uganda kobs, and giant forest hogs. After lunch, enjoy a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel to observe a variety of animals coming to the waterhole to drink or bathe, including buffalo, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and a range of beautiful birds.
Ishasha Tree Climbing Lions and Transfer to Kisoro
Bwindi National Park Mountain Gorilla Tour
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After an early morning breakfast, prepare for an encounter with the mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is unique in Africa for hosting both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. It also supports five other primate species, 113 mammal species, over 200 butterflies, and 360 bird species. Gorilla tracking time is unpredictable, and the hike can take anywhere from 2 to 9 hours or more. Be prepared for long walks in steep, muddy conditions, sometimes with rain, before encountering the gorillas. “The excitement of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile!” A briefing will be provided on how to interact with these gentle giants. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close with Uganda’s gorillas in the mist.
