Trekking and Wildlife Watching on Mt. Elgon
Mt. Elgon National Park - Trek on Mount Elgon (4321 m), a solitary volcanic mountain on the border of eastern Uganda and western Kenya. The mountain’s highest point, “Wagagai,” is entirely within Uganda. Although its earliest volcanic activity is not verifiable, geologists estimate Mount Elgon is at least 24 million years old, making it the oldest extinct volcano in East Africa.
Running Adventures, Coffee Tour, and Waterfalls

Sipi Falls is a series of three waterfalls located at the foothills of Mount Elgon, just at the edge of Mt. Elgon National Park. They are a major tourist attraction. The highest fall drops from an altitude of 100 m and is considered the main one as it is the last in the series, but all contribute to Uganda’s beautiful scenery. Many consider Sipi Falls the “most romantic falls” in Uganda, evidenced by the stunning waterfalls.

We are set to train in excess of 2000 meters above sea level in the Barawa community, where we will follow the same paths taken by Uganda’s top long distance runners and global champions. We’ll embark on several day-long excursions up the hills of Mount Elgon and towards the Northern region — progressing to the slopes of mounts Kadam and Moroto. We will cross rivers, pass by waterfalls, explore rustic villages, observe wild life while enjoying the subalpine vistas of Uganda’s most serene countryside. Every other day, we won’t just find ourselves in different locations, but also among diverse tribes and cultures: Sebei, Karamojongs, Tepeth, Dodoth. Indeed, integrating a cultural tour with the sport is a fantastic blend!
The region of Mount Elgon is among Uganda’s most stunning, and a run across this terrain is absolutely enchanting. You’ll take in views of the town, the valleys, the rivers, the cliffs, and even a few waterfalls on your journey. However, be warned! The altitude is significant, and you’ll encounter numerous ascents and descents.
