Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka

Jinka - Travel to Jinka and explore the Omo Valley Tribes. Upon arrival at Jinka Airport, the Ethio Backpacker Tours team will warmly welcome you at the airport’s exit. You will then drive to the Key Afer local market to experience the Benna, Hammer, and Tsemay communities along with the Mane people. Afterwards, continue to Turmi, home of the Hamer people.

Excursion to Omorate

Omorate - After enjoying breakfast, embark on an excursion to Omorate to meet the Dassanech, known as the ‘people of the Delta’, residing on the northern shore of Lake Turkana. After the visit, return to Turmi for lunch. Then, proceed to Jinka, with an opportunity to visit the local community market of Key Afer along the way. Here, you will encounter around three local communities before heading to Jinka for an overnight stay. You will also meet the Ari people, the largest group in the lower Omo Valley, known for their expertise in pottery and distinctive skirts made from the Enset plant.

Drive from Jinka to Mago and back to Jinka – Departure

Jinka - Enjoy a day trip to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village. The Mursi are one of Ethiopia’s most unique ethnic groups, living in low huts made of straw leaves. The women are known for wearing terra cotta on their significantly stretched lower lips and ear lobes. Return to Jinka, and later, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
