Beijing - Pingyao Via Bullet Train

Ancient City of Pingyao - At 8 am, the guide will meet you in the lobby of your Beijing hotel, holding a sign with your name, and escort you to Beijing West Railway Station to board a 4-hour bullet train to Pingyao. Upon reaching Pingyao, you will be taken to the historic old town. Pingyao was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 and is celebrated for its city layout from the Ming and Qing dynasties, following a traditional bagua pattern. The city and its surroundings boast over 300 ancient sites. There are nearly 4,000 preserved residences in the Ming and Qing styles. The streets and storefronts largely maintain their historical charm.
Pingyao was the financial hub of China during the late Qing Dynasty, with up to 20 financial institutions in the city, accounting for more than half of the country’s total.
Today, you can explore the Old City Wall of Pingyao, Confucius Temple, Rishenchang Bank Institute, Yamun, and more. The local beef and noodles are delicious, so be sure to try them for dinner at a local restaurant.

Shuanglin Temple - After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Shuanglin Temple and Zhengguo Temple with your guide. You may choose to bike there if you prefer. Shuanglin Temple was constructed in 571 AD during the Northern Qi Dynasty. It was listed alongside the Old Town of Pingyao and Zhengguo Temple as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Shuanglin Temple is renowned for its colorful sculptures depicting Buddhism, crafted from local clay, some of which are over a thousand years old and still beautifully preserved, showcasing their original essence.
Afterwards, you will be taken back to Pingyao Railway Station to catch the bullet train back to Beijing. Upon arrival in Beijing, you will be transferred back to your hotel, marking the end of the tour.
