Great way to see the city if you're short on time! - Overall great overview of the different regions of Joburg. Great option if you are limited on time and just want to get a sense of the city. I'm not sure 1 hour at the prison was worth the time - I would suggest more like 30 minutes on this so you have a little mroe time to explore.

Great insight to the city and history of South Africa - Lindela was very knowledgeable and adapted to my preferences to stop or not stop at the various sights. It was very informative few hours without being overwhelming with information. I leave Johannesburg better informed about the history of South African and how it shapes the country we see today.

Nice Private Tour - Nice City Tour, it lasted about 4 hours. The guide was good and knowledgeable. He asked my elderly parents if they wanted to walk or have the tour in the van (just some places). He also took good photos.

1/2 day Joburg - We had a 1/2 day tour in Johannesburg. Our guide Thabiso did a great job and tried to show us as much as possible in this short time. He is very passionate about in his job and about his home town. He even brought some stuff we forgot to the hotel next day. Such a friendly and passionate guy!

Excellent introduction to Johannesburg with a passionate guide - Great tour of Johannesburg in half a day! It was the perfect format to get a good overview of the city without being too long or tiring. Our guide was excellent: very friendly, passionate, and above all full of knowledge about the history of the country, apartheid and the current evolution of the city.
We always felt safe, the explanations were clear and we could ask all our questions. Special mention for the historic neighborhoods and local anecdotes that really make the tour lively.
I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you are discovering Johannesburg for the first time

Short but sweet - This was a private tour with car and driver. Our driver Tembe (so?) was so friendly and informative. He made our half day tour a treat. Our last step was in the entertainment hub where we parted ways and enjoyed some local SA food at Pata Pata bar and restaurant.

A Good Layover Tour with Strong Historical Insight - We booked the Johannesburg city tour during our layover in Johannesburg, and overall, it was an OK experience.
After the incredible and highly accommodating experiences we had in Cape Town, this tour felt a bit more challenging for us — especially traveling with my 80-year-old mother. While our main driver/guide was knowledgeable and shared great information about the city, the level of attentiveness and accommodation wasn’t quite what I had hoped for. Simple gestures like assisting with doors or being more mindful of mobility needs would have made a meaningful difference.
That said, from a knowledge standpoint, it is a strong tour. If you have several hours during a layover and want to explore beyond the airport, this is a solid option. I would recommend ensuring you truly have the full allotted timeframe available, as the tour can run a little long.
The highlight of the experience was our time at the museum. The experience there was very authentic and powerful. The young man who guided us through that portion of the tour was excellent — engaging, insightful, and truly passionate. He made that part of the visit especially meaningful.
Overall, I would describe it as a good layover tour with valuable historical insight, particularly at the museum. With a bit more attentiveness to guest comfort — especially for elderly travelers — it could easily be elevated to a great experience.
