Good learning experience - There was a well spoken woman describing the ceremony prior to the tea master performing the ceremony. When the ceremony was complete we made our own tea, and had the opportunity to ask any questions we wanted.

A Great Tea Ceremony Experience at Sakaguchian - Sakaguchian in Kyoto’s historic Gion district offers an absolutely magical tea ceremony experience that exceeded every expectation. Nestled in Gion, this intimate venue creates an atmosphere of profound tranquility. The beautiful garden is a living masterpiece, perfectly positioned to create breathtaking views through the shoji screens. Inside the traditional tatami room, the tea master’s graceful movements and quiet expertise transform the ceremony into a moving meditation on Japanese culture. The small group size ensures personal connection while the warm lighting, gentle incense, and soft natural light filtering through paper screens create an experience of serenity. Highly recommend it!

Worth for Matcha lovers or first timers - Great explainations with cool history lessons. Staff were friendly and accommodating to English speakers. Although mine is not as good as the tea master it's a good experience.

Relaxing and enjoyable experience - The setting is absolutely beautiful and tucked into a vibrant part of old Kyoto. The English translations were very helpful and we were able to ask all of our questions about the culture around tea ceremonies. This is definitely a slower pace, perhaps even “nerdy” activity, but great if you are interested in tea or a window into Japanese culture.

Wonderful Tea Ceremony Experience - One of our favorite activities of our visit to Japan. Our entire family enjoyed the tea ceremony! The translator was very knowledgeable, helpful and even took pictures for us. The Tea Master did a beautiful job and answered any questions we had. Their manicured gardens are spectacular! The Matcha tea superb and the treat was delightful. I highly recommend attending this location if you are in Kyoto.
