Great Cultural Experience - I took my 16-year-old son to the studio for the two-hour Samurai photoshoot. It was an easy walk from Shinjuku Station, following Google map. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They were also extremely knowledgeable. We loved hearing their detailed explanations about Japanese history and the techniques used to make armers during the Sengoku war period. Selecting an armor, dressing, and taking pictures were done very quickly and smoothly. I remember that the whole session was done within an hour and a half. My son was very excited about the opportunity to wear an authentic Samurai armor. It was definitely a memorable experience for him. The pictures came out very nicely. We also bought coasters with a small additional cost. They were nice keepsakes. We hope to do the photoshoot again during our next trip to Japan. Thank you!

Don't miss this place! - Coming here was easily one of the best choices we made in Tokyo. My wife was skeptical, but she ended up having as much fun as I did. From choosing the armor, to getting ceremonially dressed, to doing the photo shoot, to choosing your 4 backdrops, everything was professional. But the BEST thing was interacting with the photographer and his assistant. They were energetic, enthusiastic and with their (broken) English, made the morning a hoot! They even photographed my wife in a kimono at no extra charge. We left with a handful of hardcopy photos, a thumb drive with everything, and great memories. Worth every penny.

This was a great experience and I cannot recommend it enough! - I don't think my husband and I stopped smiling during this entire experience -except, of course, when my husband had to look fierce for the photos. How the experience works is that you book a 2-hour photo shoot which comes with 6 printed photos with the amazing backgrounds. In addition, you get ALL of the green screen photos on both a flash drive and in the cloud server Dropbox. You can choose to pay extra if you'd like your photos on coasters, throw pillows, mugs, etc. They can put your photos on these gifts in about 10 minutes, so you walk out with them if you want them. They have many backgrounds for you to choose from. You get to choose which armor you'd like to wear from a long hallway of options. The armor are very high quality reproductions of real, legendary Samurai. There are tons of weapons and artifacts (props) to choose from to accentuate your photos. There were two guides who spoke a little bit of English (and we spoke zero Japanese except "hello" and "thank you"), but we were able to understand what was expected of us. The free Google translate app was quite helpful too! I booked the photo shoot for my husband. If I had wanted to be a Samurai too, it would have been charged as a second experience. But, as a free bonus, I was able to take a few photos with my husband while wearing a beautiful Kimono that they draped over me. I was very content with this option. My husband got changed into black base layers before donning the armor. The guides took their time dressing him, explaining the purpose of each piece of armor. They made sure that we removed our modern day accessories (like the Apple watch and jewelry) so that we looked period-appropriate. They also gave us the name and history of the Samurai whose armor my husband chose to wear. He was a fierce warrior and my husband was proud to wear his armor. We never ever felt rushed. We felt super welcome. This was a great experience and I cannot recommend it enough!

The Best Experience in Tokyo - We did with my fiancé the Matsu plan for two people on the morning of the 12th of May 2024 and it was truly the best experience we had of our entire trip in Tokyo! The studio team was wonderful and very professional! They did an amazing job and the pictures came out incredible! Taro Nakamura sensei was so friendly and educational! He explained the history of the armours and the meaning of each piece. It was such an honour to see Tateki Matsuura sensei's demonstration of sword drawing and kata! He was really kind and patient and taught us the basics of sword drawing! The whole experience was so fun, so interesting and just "Kakkoii"!!! I highly recommend the Sengoku photo studio to anyone who wants to make a fantastic memory as a samurai!
