“Bikes, Glacier Views, and Microbrews” kicks off with a 20-minute van journey from the historic downtown of Juneau to the Mendenhall Valley. Here, participants are equipped with bikes, helmets, and rain gear if needed. The adventure begins on the eastern side of the Mendenhall Glacier, featuring a 4-mile ride to the western shore of Mendenhall Lake. At this point, there is a short break to take in the picturesque lake views. Riders then return to the eastern side of the glacier, traversing two stunning trails within the Tongass National Forest.
Following the bike ride, the guide leads participants to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center for 45 minutes of self-guided exploration. Visitors can admire the glacier, explore the trails, and delve into the area’s history. Afterward, a brief drive takes the group to Forbidden Peak Brewery, where they can savor a custom flight of local beers while enjoying the views of Auke Bay. The guide will then transport everyone back to downtown at the tour’s conclusion.
