An experienced miner will demonstrate hard rock mining and acquaint you with the mining lifestyle. Back at the mill our guide will explain why this mill was unique compared to others. You will see the John Peterson Stamp mill in operation and you’ll try your own hand at panning for gold and garnets. Pay dirt is guaranteed and you keep what you find! Wander through our displays and see the first steam engine brought to Alaska. Be sure to check out the General Store for that special something for that special someone.

The best staff around - This was so much fun and educational! The best part was definitely the staff, from the tour operators to the bus drivers to the gift shop. It was clear that everyone truly loved what they were doing and were so fun and welcoming. An amazing experience for sure!

Fun experience with friendly staff - Wonderful company running the experience. The drivers, tour leads, and staff were all very accommodating and knowledgeable in both the mining industry and the local area. Learning how to pan for gold was fun and eye opening on the process. Thankfully the water in the panning area is warmed up so you don't get too cold.

History, intriguing - So much rich history. And by people who actually have been miners. Tho mine is inoperative due to licensing issues but has all of the equipment on site. We panned for gold and found flakes!

Loved it!!! - We had so much fun! The kids loved it, especially the little one. We didn't we would but we actually found some gold! The tour was very informational and easy to understand. It's very clear that these people love what they do. Be sure to dress for the weather!!! It was quite wet and cold in the cave.

We had the best time!! - We had the best time!! My husband wanted to do this and I joined him not expecting to enjoy this tour. But we both ended up having such a great time. Informative, fun , and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. Highly recommend!!
