Glacier, fjord, and wildlife galore - This was a perfect 10/10 excursion for us. We saw whales, bears, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, rainbows, blue ice fields, glaciers, and jaw-dropping fjords. We could hardly believe our eyes. We didn’t even know where to look, it was all THAT gorgeous. The staff was amazing… Mya was a knowledgeable and funny naturalist, and Captain Dan and Sweeney made sure it was smooth sailing — they had eagle eyes… spotting wildlife well before anyone else. Lunch was also delicious… a hearty turkey sandwich with the fixings, plus a cookie, bag of chips, and an orange. Don’t skip the Glacial Margs!

A LONG Tour - It’s too long if you want any time to see Juneau. It departs on a relatively large boat moving 2 buses full of people. The lines and departure from the dock were a bit chaotic such that it didn’t really matter if you were first in line. You might end up in the second bus which translates to a mediocre (middle) seat on the boat. Ultimately, the inside seats didn’t matter much because the windows fogged up and made it difficult to see. The upper deck is partially covered with a few seats. If you take this tour, I recommend you dress appropriately and hang out up there. It’s advertised as a 7-hour tour, and for most of the tour, we were driving full throttle to get to (and from) Tracy Arm Fjord with no time to stop and look at whales. Juneau is far enough away that they must hustle to get there. So, they don’t have time to stop and look at anything for any amount of time, and even when you get to the glacier, if you get to the glacier (depending on the ice flows) you’re only there for a few minutes. The wildlife experience part of this excursion was heavily overstated in the description. The tour is really about seeing Tracy Arm Fjord. It was a very frantic dash to the to the glacier with minimal narration. Frankly, it would’ve been helpful to have had an overview on what we were really doing. A map would’ve helped. The excursion includes a box lunch of a turkey sandwich, which was pretty good and some chips and a cookie. They have free hot chocolate and coffee on board and there’s some other snacks to purchase. Overall, the fjord and Sawyer glacier are neat, but I would not invest my only day in Juneau in this excursion.
