• Kaag - Let me introduce you to my cherished retreat, “De Kaag.” A sailboat, measuring 6.2 meters, awaits there, and after a brief car journey, we will reach the Netherlands’ shortest ferry. Just a few minutes more, and we will arrive at the stunning island of “De Kaag.”

Once there, we will board the sailboat. It’s a cozy, compact vessel, perfect for a 3 to 4-hour tour, contingent on the wind conditions. Participants will have the opportunity to help with bridge openings, assist with sailing, or even steer the boat if they have the experience.

The journey will take us through the picturesque Dutch polders, offering views of animals grazing below us. Along the way, we will encounter windmills, houseboats, a renowned luxury yacht construction yard, and much more.

For those new to sailing: Rest assured, the boat is manageable, and guidance on the basics is available if desired. Life vests are compulsory for children and when the wind exceeds 4bft. On warm days, swimming is an option.

Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be provided. Depending on the group’s age and sailing experience, the trip may be postponed if winds exceed 6bft or if unpredictable rain is forecasted.

This sailing activity takes you to a unique part of the Netherlands, just south of Amsterdam. We will sail on the lakes, open bridges ourselves, pass windmills and the famous polders. Live like a local.

I am a licensed and highly experienced sailor. Currently working as a skipper on the tourboats in Amsterdam, but on my off days I’m happy to accomodate small groups to this unique experience.

Normal departure time is 10.30, and return around 16.00, but these times can be scheduled different if it suits you better to start early or start later. Pick up location can be discussed. Spoken languages: English, German, French and Dutch.
