• Sakurajima Nagisa Foot Bath Park - Start the morning perfectly with a hot coffee and a relaxing foot hot spring. The smooth stones will soothe your feet as you enjoy the excellent views, with volcano-heated water reaching calf-deep. This tropical paradise offers a panoramic view of the city skyline and waterfront nature, located right next to the boardwalk of Rainbow Beach. This secluded yet developed beach provides a view of the volcano, beach toys, inflatables, and a stone-protected lagoon, perfect for all ages to enjoy safely. Experience the fun of throwing Sakurajima’s floating volcano rocks into the water.

Access to nearby bathrooms is available for changing, and refreshment comes in the form of chilled, vine-ripened seasonal fruits that are sweeter than candy. These exclusive Japanese varieties, forbidden from export, will prepare us for the ferry ride back to downtown Kagoshima.

• Tsukiyomi Shrine - Visit this 1300-year-old shrine and enjoy the breathtaking view. Relocated after a volcanic eruption about 100 years ago, this ancient shrine reflects Shinto roots and offers charms and stunning Japanese shrine sights along our path. Let’s appreciate this shrine and gain insight into the enduring ancient Japanese beliefs.
• Tenmonkan - After grounding ourselves in nature, it’s time to explore downtown Kagoshima. A streetcar ride through the city offers a chance to see the city in comfort, with air conditioning. By this time, we’ve had a wonderful day, and our 30-minute ride back to the cruise port passes historic spots. If time allows, we can even stop at a sweets shop or a souvenir location.

The day begins with a delightful selection of seasonal local fruits, followed by a scenic drive through the city, exploring its charm by car or van. The adventure continues as we take a ferry to the volcanic island of Sakurajima, where we will make three stops, each involving a short 200-meter walk. Discover a world-class beach (swimming available from April to October) with unique floating volcanic rocks, relax at a natural foot hot spring, and visit a 1300-year-old Shinto shrine offering breathtaking views of the volcano and the bay overlooking the city.

After returning to the city by ferry, enjoy a picturesque train ride through town to an exceptional Wagyu restaurant. Following this culinary delight, there will be time for some shopping and a final opportunity for a scenic photo.
