Flight times may be adjusted to align with whale dive times, this may result in earlier departures. If you are not present at the checkin time, the flight may depart without you

Wonderful Experience- Sperm whale sighting - We loved this experience! We had an amazing view of a Sperm Whale, who stayed on the surface for 10 minutes before diving below the surface. Lots of dolphins hanging about too and stunning views of the local landscape. Our pilot was friendly and knowledgeable, we'd definitely recommend this trip.

Excellent! - We went into Kaikoura to book a whale watching boat trip, and the lady who was taking bookings told us they had two seats left on a whale watching flight with Air Kaikoura if we could go straight away. It was very spur of the moment so we headed straight off to the airfield a short distance out of town. It was a tiny four-seater plane but we felt very safe. After takeoff we were in the air for about 40-50 minutes I think but was so engrossed I didn’t take note of the time. We circled around waiting for a sperm whale to surface after a dive - the pilots know when a whale has dived and how long they are likely to stay down for - and two sperm whales obliged by popping up in a timely manner! It was fantastic to see. The pilot was very knowledgeable about the whales. It was a perfect day weather wise with clear blue skies and the scenery was beautiful. So glad we did this and I would highly recommend it!

Sperm Whale X 2 - We did this on the spur of the moment today. The conditions were perfect and the flight totally memorable. We circled two sperm whales from different directions - reassured to learn from the pilot that the planes are quiet and don't disturb or stress the whales. We saw them full length in such clear water and could see the spray from when they blew just hanging in the air above them. Then on our way back we encountered a large pod of dolphins. Splendid trip all round.

Incredible flight! - Such an amazing experience! We saw two humpbacks playing together, surrounded by dolphins. The scenery was also incredible from the air. Shout out to Murray for being such a good pilot. He was great at calming my nerves as a not-great flyer and it was a very smooth flight 100% would recommend to anyone

Stunning experience - Absolutely awesome. Our boat whale watching was cancelled due to heavy swells out off the coast but the flying conditions were perfect. We had a fantastic pilot who provided a great commentary and the whole team cared about timing take-off to make sure we got the best experience. We circled many times over 4 huge whales, then took a scenic view of the coast on the return to the airport. To Murray, Austen and all at Air Kaikoura - you are amazing.

Great All Round Experience - Had a great flight with really friendly staff, who obviously wanted to make it the best experience possible for us. Nice small group, so felt like a really personal activity. The pilot worked hard to help us see whales while out but even if nature hadn't cooperated I think it would have been a great experience/trip. Highly recommend.
