Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Valley of Roses - Dades Gorges
Atlas Mountains - At approximately 8:00 am, the driver and tour guide will collect guests from the nearest point to their hotel or Riad. Traveling through the Tizi- N’Tichka pass (2260m) in the High Atlas Mountains, guests will enjoy a winding road, stunning landscapes with varied colors, and Berber villages along the route. The first stop will be in Ait Barka village around 10:00 am, where guests can take beautiful photos and enjoy a cup of mint tea. This marks the beginning of the highest Atlas Mountains in Morocco. The second stop will be at the top of Tizi n’Tichka, arriving at Ait Benhaddou, an 11th-century UNESCO-protected red mud-brick ksar that has served as the backdrop for numerous Hollywood productions such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and many others. Here, guests will have time to explore the rich history of this remarkable heritage site.
Vallee Des Roses - Afterward, guests will have lunch before continuing through Ouarzazate, known as “Ouallywood” studio, and Taourirte Kasbah. The journey continues through the Valley of Roses and straight to Dades Gorges, characterized by rust-red and mauve mountains. A series of crumbling Kasbahs and Ksours line the valley in the Berber villages leading to the Monkey Fingers Mountains.
Dades Gorges - Todgha Gorges - Tinejdad - Erfoud - Risani - Merzouga Desert
Todgha Gorge - In the morning, the journey heads southeast towards Merzouga, the gateway to the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert. Before reaching there, guests will experience the sublime Todgha Gorges, nestled between towering rock walls.
Erfoud - The journey continues to Tinejdad, where a local Berber culture museum is a worthwhile lunch stop. After lunch, the tour proceeds to Erfoud, where visitors can marvel at the area’s famous million-year-old fossils.
Merzouga Desert - The next destination is Merzouga, home to the highest dunes in Morocco. Guests can store any extra luggage and pack an overnight bag. They will have the opportunity to ride a camel, the “ship of the desert,” into the sandy expanse. After an hour-long camel ride, guests will be among the fortunate to witness the sunset over the Sahara dunes. The overnight stay will be in a Bedouin-style tent.
Merzouga - Alnif - n’Kob - Agdez - Taznakht - Taliouine
Taliouine - Arriving at Agdez, meaning “place of rest,” guests can take a break before continuing to the village of Taliouine, known as the African center of saffron, or “red gold,” the most expensive spice. The journey passes through southern Morocco’s capital of carpets and rugs.
Taliouine - Taroudant - Tizi n’Test - Marrakech
Taroudant - From Taliouine to Marrakech via Taroudant, considered one of the most elegant purely Berber towns in Morocco, with its majestic, tawny-brown, and honey-gold 7km circuit of walls. While strolling and exploring, guests can observe the distinctive, beautifully blue veils worn by many older local women.
Tinmel - Later, the journey continues via the road carved through the High Atlas Mountains by the French in the late 1920s, famed for Tizi n’Test, offering one of the best panoramic drives in Morocco. Heading north to Marrakech, there will be a stop at Tinmal village to visit the 1156-year-old mosque.
