Meteora Sunset Tour - The excursion was amazing. Our tour guide Chris was incredibly knowledgeable and just outstanding. Our driver Yiannis was also wonderful, personable, and a very safe driver negotiating some tight spots. Best excursion I ever had. The people of Kalambaka were so nice. Our hotel staff was welcoming, kind, and patient. They put out a delicious breakfast for us.

Meteora is Beautiful! - It was a wonderful tour! The sunset tour was magical and our archeologist guide explained everything very well! The next day I went to the hiking Tour and it was very nice. I was lucky with the group, all very good people. Thank you so much. Everything very well organized and you have excellent staff! The hotel picked for me was also very very good. I will definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you! Alexandra

improvements - beautiful location, definitely worth a visit. the only experience improvement I would make is : 1. to have a sign" viator bookings" by the bus in Larissis station - as there where a few busses to Meteora and people were confused which to take 2. adding timetable to itineraries - exact pick up times from hotels, drop off ,as people didn't know and were stressing out 3. wait for the bus to Athens on day 2 was way to long...from 1-6 pm in the afternoon heat ....hmmm

Meteora - 2-day Tour with an overnight - We had booked the two day tour with an overnight at the Grand Meteora. The hotel view was gorgeous with a balcony overlooking the rocks of Meteora. There was a pool and sauna; however, we didn’t use them due to limited hours and additional costs. The tours themself were great, including the sunset viewing. Seeing the largest Monastery was the highlight. Only problem was after spending half-day of second day on a four we were dropped off mid-day at the office. Explored the town for several hours, but 3/4 were closed due to custom of an afternoon rest which you can appreciate given the heat. If I were to do it again, recommend going back to the hotel to spend the afternoon at the pool with a 5pm pick-up before heading back to Athens.

Meteora itself is... - Meteora itself is absolutely stunning and 100% worth visiting — the scenery and monasteries are unforgettable. That said, the logistics of this particular tour were awkward and left a lot to be desired. The bus ride from Athens was advertised as 3.5 hours but ended up closer to 4.5 due to traffic (not their fault but if you're doing a day trip, this really cuts into your tour time). There was one 30-minute stop halfway, but it wasn’t really enough time to get food/do anything (most people just stood outside the bus). We later learned you could pre-order meals, but no one explained how or when to do that. Once in Meteora, those of us staying overnight had to transfer to a different bus to check into our hotels, then had a couple of hours of free time before the 3:30 p.m. sunset tour. The sunset tour was lovely — great guide, well-paced, and lots of photo opportunities. The next morning, the day tour took us into three monasteries. The experience was beautiful and the guide was wonderful, though I was disappointed that the Grand Monastery was closed on Tuesdays — knowing it's the most visited, it would have been nice if that was the monastery we visited during the sunset tour the night before. The day tour itself felt short (about 4 hours), with many of the same photo stops as the night before. To make things more confusing, guides sometimes gave conflicting information. It quickly became clear that this trip is essentially multiple separate tours cobbled together. Communication about timing was poor — we often didn’t know when or where we were being picked up, and at one point I was even told a part of my itinerary was sold out, despite booking months in advance. Between transfers, gaps, and waiting around, a lot of time felt wasted. For example, after the morning tour we were dropped back in town with over four hours of downtime while waiting for the one-day tour people to finish so we could all ride the same bus back to Athens. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to do in town (and many places close mid-day). A longer tour of the monasteries (or visiting more monasteries) would have made much better use of the time. On the return journey, we stopped in the same halfway town with 45 minutes for dinner. Overall thoughts: Meteora itself is breathtaking and should not be missed, but this tour’s structure felt inefficient and disorganized. If I could do it again, I would probably rent a car — the monasteries all have parking and are easy to reach, giving you more freedom to explore (though you’d miss out on the guide’s commentary). Also worth noting: The 3-star hotel option is in town, which is convenient. The 4-star hotels are outside of town, making it harder to get around. Bottom line: Meteora is incredible, but this tour felt like a patchwork of separate trips with too much waiting and too little communication. I’d recommend considering alternative ways to visit unless you strongly prefer the convenience of an organized tour.

Disappointing and not an integrated service at all! Disservice - The overall experience was terribly disappointing. This was not service but disservice. Unsafe and not an integrated experienced at all! I felt penalized for paying more money for an upgraded experience. I booked this tour with the overnight stay and even upgraded my room and thought I would have a great integrated experience. It was terrible because they did not even do due diligence on checking the hotel they put me in. The hotel they put me in was far away from Kalambaka the main town, none of the power points were working in the room making it impossible to charge your devices. The owner locked up the place and left the reception at 2 p.m and said no one will be back until tomorrow. I panicked and asked for a phone number and then he gave me his number and I pointed out that the plug point was not working and thankfully one of the adapters he gave eventually worked with some adjustment. In hot weather like 98 degrees, there was not even a fan in the bedroom and the a/c was in the hallway very far from the bedroom. The worst part was the owner of the family owned so called above budget hotel was behaving badly and that made it even more unsafe and I felt completely creepy to stay in the place. Unfortunately this was so late in the night that I couldn't find a way to get away from there safely either. One of the worst days of my travel. The team did not even bother to text and check or communicate if everything was ok. I felt completely stranded. I don't understand what due diligence they did and what logic they used to host a woman solo traveler far away from the city. I couldn't sleep the whole night and this sick feeling of not feeling safe ruined my much anticipated visit to meteora leaving me completely disgusted and disappointed. To add to this, on the return journey to Athens, you get put into one of the vehicles with people who were on a day trip which means people have reserved their spots in the van and you get the worst seat. How can this be an integrated and upgraded experience? Sub par organization. The only good part was that the individual sunset tour to the monasteries and the hiking tour were both good and had decent guides. Also, if you are a solo woman traveler, do yourself a favor and go to other safe places where you are treated well, this place ain't it.
