• Independence Monument - The Independence Monument:
  This historical landmark is one of the most rewarding sights in Kampala city. Standing proudly at a height of 6 meters, the monument celebrates the achievement of Independence in 1962. It is centrally located in Kampala, surrounded by the Grand Imperial Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, and Standard Chartered Bank. Erected by the British colonial administration a year before Uganda’s independence celebrations in 1962, this monument portrays a man unwrapping and lifting a child towards the sky, symbolizing a nation newly freed from colonial rule. The Independence Monument was crafted by Gregory Magoba and unveiled by Uganda’s first Prime Minister, Apollo Milton Obote (R.I.P).

The Edward Muteesa II Monument:
This monument is situated at the junction of Speke Road and Nile Avenue, near the Independence Monument. It was established to honor Sir Edward Mutesa II, the first president of independent Uganda and the 35th King of the Kingdom of Buganda, for his contributions to Uganda’s independence struggle. The monument was funded by Roofing Limited, Bank of Uganda, and Mr. Gordon Wavammuno, a local entrepreneur, and was unveiled by the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, in 2007.

• Gaddafi National Mosque - The Gaddafi Mosque:
  The mosque features fascinating elements that attract both local and international tourists, including the Minaret or prayer tower for Muslims. The mosque’s stunning interior is a must-see, and its tower offers a clear view of Kampala city.

• Nakasero Market - Nakasero Market is the oldest and most renowned market for fresh fruit, offering a chance to see a wide variety of the country’s food products. After visiting Nakasero Market, the tour proceeds to the Uganda bus station (matatu station), where visitors can experience the African public transport setting.

• Kasubi Tombs - The Kasubi Tombs are a UNESCO World Heritage site and the burial place of four Buganda kings (Kabakas). The rich history and cultural significance make it a unique destination on a Kampala city tour. The Tombs of Buganda Kings at Kasubi cover nearly 30 hectares of hillside within the Kampala district. Most of the site is agricultural, farmed using traditional methods. At its core on the hilltop is the former palace of the Kabakas of Buganda, built in 1882 and converted into the royal burial ground in 1884. Four royal tombs now reside within the Muzibu Azaala Mpanga, the main building, which is circular and topped by a dome. It is a significant example of architectural achievement using organic materials, primarily wood, thatch, reed, wattle, and daub. The site’s main importance lies in its intangible values of belief, spirituality, continuity, and identity.

• Kabaka’s Palace - Kabaka’s Palace (Lubiri or Mengo Palace) is the royal compound of the Kabaka of Buganda, located in Mengo, a suburb of Kampala, the Ugandan capital. Built in 1885, Kabaka’s Palace (Lubiri) is the historic official residence of the Buganda king. Following a 1966 military coup, the palace’s underground storage tunnels were used to detain political prisoners. Although the palace’s classic facade has been restored, chilling reminders of the Idi Amin dictatorship remain on the grounds. However, the palace is situated on Mengo Hill, offering spectacular views of the city and other beautiful attractions inside and outside the gate that visitors will enjoy during their visit.
