Best day ever! - What a perfect way to end my week in Uganda. The tour company was thorough and clear with instructions from the minute I booked until the morning of the excursion and afterwards. Michael was an amazing guide, who stopped to point out things he knew I was interested in like local fruit trees and a crane he spotted. Every detail was considered, including a rain jacket for me in case it rained. The route was beautiful and the arrangements were flexible to suit my needs. If you’re interested in outdoor physical activity while in Kampala, this option cannot be beat.

Rural mountain biking through the countryside a short boat ride away from Kampala - The bicycling was on roads and dirt paths through rural villages and a little bit through a macadamia tree orchard. We went right after a rain, so it was very muddy. The bike was in great condition with 14 gears and good brakes which were needed on the hilly and slippery terrain. I was solo, and the guide was flexible with the distance. It was pretty challenging for me, but I enjoyed it. We did load bikes on a boat to get over to the east side of a bay on Lake Victoria where it is quite rural away from the city. It is not actually an island, although I don't think that matters. If you want to quickly get out of bustling and loud Kampala and get some good exercise on a mountain bike, this is a nice way to do it. It reminded me of when I previously lived in rural southwest Uganda, except this was just a quick boat ride away.

Kampala’s green adventure - This is a perfect trip to escape the city and explore nature! Enjoy the beautiful scenery with views on the lake by biking through the lush green. The hilly area brings besides amazing views the perfect conditions for mountain biking which all levels, beginners till experts enjoy. Our guide Michael, could tell you all about the different plants and trees you see along the way and he has one rule about making fun, which it is all about in the end. I can assure you that is definitely met! Thank you Michael for the amazing day

Do this! - A very good organised trip! Very Nice guide. The boat brings you to the other side where it is so much different then Kampala. More green, monkeys, farming life and Nice Roads (singletracks) to bike. Beautiful views.

Cycling through Cannibis in Kampala - I highly recommend taking a mountain biking tour with Red Dirt in Uganda! Shadrack was our cycling guide, and Brian was my driver. Shadrack communicated very well with me prior to my arrival into Entebbe. He also connected me with Brian, my driver, to transport me from Entebbe to the starting point in Kampala. From the start point, we took a 15-min ferry over to a secluded peninsula, which you would never think is 10 minutes away from the bustling city. The mountain bikes provided are top notch and perform well. Shadrack is a very fit guy, but he will evaluate how you are handling the terrain and adjust his pace accordingly. I was able to join the tour with another participant from the UK. It was fun to talk with someone throughout the ride. We stopped a few times for Shadrack to explain some of the sights along the way, and we got to see a lot of school children during their recess as we rode through the school grounds. They were happy to see us. We also stopped for a soft drink & a rolex about 2/3 of the way through the ride. The return trip to the ferry dock was very enjoyable and not too arduous. The ferry back to the start point was also relaxing. Brian then drove me all the way out to Jinja once the bike tour had ended. Again, I highly recommend booking a tour with Red Dirt in Uganda if you’re looking for an adventure.
