Delicious and informative - Had a great time. Our tour guide, Saya, told us a lot of history about the market and Geisha tea rooms while delivering a multitude of tasty local snacks - my fave was the oyster as big as my hand doused in ponzu.

A two hours well spent…even with the rain - Wonderful experience including local information and delicious tastings. Our guide Ian had excellent knowledge and guided us through the Omicho market with a tasting at a fish market booth; we then walked to the geisha district and enjoyed the historical information provided; we ended our tour with a stop at a “sweets” store and a stop at the gold leaf shop. We thoroughly enjoyed our two hours with Ian and highly recommend him to other travellers.

Fantastic tour with a local guide - Loved this walking-food tour. Our guide, a Kanazawa local, mixed tasty bites with local stories and fun facts you won’t find in a guidebook. She even carried a folder with printed picture and old photos to give a bigger and more nuanced perspective into Kanazawa - super helpful and informative. Easy pace, generous samples, great tips for where to eat later. Felt like exploring the city with a passionate friend. Can highly recommend.

An interesting and entertaining afternoon in Kanazawa - We spent an enjoyable afternoon with Ai discovering all the interesting food available at Omicho market and tasting a selection. It was really interesting to understand more about different Japanese seafood meat and vegetables especially those like lotus root which I have eaten in tempura selections for years at Japanese restaurants without knowing what it is. We also explored two of Kanazawa’s very attractive and atmospheric Geisha districts and Ai answered all our questions about this aspect of Japanese culture. Finally we got to watch gold leaf being made. A great tour.

Interesting Taste of Kanazawa tour - We met our guide Ai and started our tour in the Omicho market in a small group of 6. We wandered through the food market with Ai pointing out different types of fish, fruit and vegetables. We then tasted tuna, salmon, squid, mackerel, pork on skewers, deep fried blowfish, deep fried minced beef parcels and crisps. We walked to a shrine and into the geisha district with Ai explaining geisha history and about their lives today. We visited a sweet shop and had ginger biscuit and yasatose which is red bean paste in cake. The last stop was the gold leaf workshop where they make all the gold leaf used in Japan. Ai was extremely interesting and informative and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour.

Very informative and interesting tour. - A good insight into local food trends and life. Ai was our guide and she was very informative with a good level of English. Highly recommend her. We also loved the visit to Higashi Chaya district and all the insights for the architecture and world of the geishas. It's always good to take a tour which helps to ensure you are respecting the local culture.

Lot of Fun - The tour took us through the market to look at seasonal fish and vegetables, and then through two different tea-house districts. It is a lovely city, and this tour was a great introduction to it.
