- but seeing the city through a local’s eyes creates an entirely new perspective. Visit Utatsuyama Park, an expansive forest in the middle of the city with over 100 types of wildflowers, and explore Nishi Chaya, a residential road where geisha and maiko (apprentice geisha) live and train. Forego crowded Higashi Chaya in favor of storybook Kazuemachi, a riverside district lined with wood-built, feudal-era buildings, and stop for coffee at a trendy cafe.
Within 24 hours after booking you’ll receive a short questionnaire about your personality and interests. Based on your responses, you’ll be assigned a like-minded host. Your host will communicate with you directly to suggest an itinerary to help you discover what makes the city unique. You will also agree on a meeting time and place. Unique experience in Kanazawa - We wanted to see a lot in Kanazawa. So we hired a private guide for 3 hours to help us navigate all the logistics. Yukari proved invaluable in doing that. Yukari helped to get us to the more off beat places so we could see the more usual tourist places by ourselves. We got day passes for transportation on the loop bus. She pre booked us an appointment at the Myoryu-ji Ninja Temple at our request, and afterwards, we walked around a small Geisha district, ate delicious chili tofu (not hot chili) and tofu ice cream. We went to the Kimono Cente, and Yukari helped us purchase matcha mochi on our way to the park. We communicated well even if we had to clarify Yukari's English sometimes. Yukari went over and beyond to help us experience Kanazawa. It was very pleasant and memorable. We would definitely use Yukari again.

So much fun!!! - This was such a great experience. Our guide, Megumi, was amazing. She was kind, funny, and knowledgeable. After filling out the questionnaire, we decided to visit the geisha area, Kenrokuen garden and Kanazawa Castle. She walked us through the fish market on the way back, pointed out local delicacies and helped us place our order. She sent us links to other area attractions and called to make reservations for us at the Ninja temple and a gold leaf class for the following days. Would 100% recommend Megumi to anyone considering booking a tour.

Highly recommended if you want to feel the city and its charm outside the crowds - Fumie was a great guide, she showed us the city from a different angle - less touristic, more local flavor which wax exactly what we were looking for.

Lovely experience, especially away from the hustle & bustle of the larger cities of Japan. - Akari was a treat to have as my guide for this tour. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the history behind the sites she showed me. The extra bit of history about how a particular stone pagoda in the castle garden was related to the Imjin War was exceptionally surprising since that war is effectively unknown in the West.

A relaxing way to explore Kanazawa - Our guide Mo spoke excellent English and was very polite and helpful. He knew some great places to visit and it was so relaxing having a local guide us around. We especially loved visiting the Samurai house, Zen gardens, Kenroku-en gardens and Kanazawa pottery shops.
