Fantastic day in Kanazawa - This trip was fantastic. Our guide Daniel was superbly knowledgeable and personable. We saw some fantastic sights- a particular highlight was the geisha tea house experience. If you have limited time in Kanazawa, this trip is highly recommended, as it covers a large range of amazing sights. Lastly, we would like to mention Daniel, who went above and beyond in his role, and ensured that we had the correct train tickets for our onward journey.

Wide ranging but good fun - an excellent tour. - The tour guide was a Northern Irishman called Daniel and I couldn’t recommend him more. He was extremely knowledgeable on Kanazawa and Japan, thoughtful about giving people time and space to enjoy, yet keeping momentum and enthusiasm - and had very clear diction and speech. Nothing was too much trouble and we learned a great deal. It was excellent.

Great and extremely comprehensive tour of Kanazawa - I went on this great and EXTREMELY comprehensive tour of Kanazawa today and I am glad I did. Daniel (I hope I got his name right) was a great tour guide! Although he recently moved to Japan, he had lived in Japan previously and clearly has a passion for Japanese history and culture. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the sites and Japanese history in general. The historical context really added to the overall experience since I was able to understand and appreciate what I was looking at so much better. This tour really hits all the big spots in Kanazawa. There is A LOT of walking and I even ended up breaking my movement record according to the fitness app. However the pace was definitely leisurely and manageable. I would definitely recommend comfortable walking shoes. It was great being able to see all the different districts and old style buildings. Unfortunately it was POURING during the tour but Daniel was a trooper and continued the tour despite the rain. He also gave me recommendations for my other days in Kanazawa and some pointers for traveling in other parts of Japan. I would definitely recommend this tour as a starting point in your exploration to Kanazawa.

Truly Fantastic - 10/10 - Just book this tour as you will not regret it. - We absolutely loved, loved, loved this full day walking tour in Kanazawawa. Being from Australia and having not travelled in Japan before, I was a complete dunce about Japanese history.........Being honest! Garrett, our guide was nothing less than phenomenal. With a Masters in Japanese History, there was very little that he did not (or could not) explain to us and with relatable examples and comparisons in history. Quite seriously, when you are looking at tour options, it's really easy to think that an entire day walking, looking and talking is far to much, but by 5pm (finish time) we were still on a high and needed to go and have a beer to talk about our day and the interesting and entertaining parts of what we had learnt. It was seriously facinating. How often do you get to visit a samurais house, drink macha tea as you gaze out of a huge window as the snow gently falls and walk through a geisha's house? If you are in Kanazawa, definitely, definitely this 'Day Tour from Kanazawa: Samurai, Matcha, Gardens and Geisha'. I doubt very much if you could replicate this tour experience doing it on your own. It really was a highlight during our trip to Japan.

Interesting, engaging & a must do! - Lee was a fabulous guide. He was very knowledgeable of the city & culture and was happy to go at our pace & answer all our questions. We are travelling with my 70yr old parents & 11yr old daughter and everyone loved it! It's a big day of walking but it doesn't feel like it because it's so interesting & beautiful! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Kanazawa!

Great intro to Kanazawa! - Mike was a wonderful guide. Had some reservations because of the rain and the distance but neither were major issues. Covered the distance no problem and even endured a little hail without issue. Kanazawa is surprisingly walkable. Tour was amazingly insightful. We saw all the major sites with a lot of interesting history and little details. Fun overlap with the Shogun series. Mike pointed out sights along the walk between major points of attraction making the walk itself fun. Mike was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Would recommend without hesitation.

Smorgasbord of Japanese history and culture - A fabulous informative walking tour that provided a wonderful insight into Kanazawa. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, spoke fluent English and Japanese and was able to delve deeper into topics based on the needs of the small group. We covered all aspects outlined in the tour and he customised the amount of time we spent on each activity based on preference. A real smorgasbord of Japanese history and culture on offer. This is a full day walking tour so comfortable shoes and a reasonable level of fitness is required however it is a wonderful way to experience Kanazawa.
