- Kandy - Kandy, often referred to as the hill capital of Sri Lanka, is a captivating tourist hotspot. Its origins trace back to the 15th century, serving as the last royal capital of the nation. Located 115km from Colombo, it is the second largest city in Sri Lanka. Kandy is rich in culture, with the Temple of the Tooth being its most renowned attraction. The city center is nestled in a valley, elevated at 600m above sea level. Kandy Lake, an artificial creation by a former ruler, now serves as a picturesque focal point of the town. Additionally, Kandy hosts an international cricket stadium, drawing thousands of cricket enthusiasts. With sports, religion, history, and culture, Kandy offers a complete experience! A day tour of Kandy is a must on any Sri Lankan itinerary.
- Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - The Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession. This was the last capital of the Sinhala kings, whose support allowed the Dinahala culture to thrive for over 2,500 years until the British occupation of Sri Lanka in 1815. It is also home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic (the sacred tooth of the Buddha), a renowned pilgrimage site and one of the most famous Buddhist temples globally, built to safeguard the sacred tooth relic believed to belong to Lord Buddha, which has been enshrined in Sri Lanka for centuries. Alongside numerous other temples, visitors can enjoy a walk along Kandy Lake or explore the breathtaking Botanical Gardens, established by the British in the 19th century and still among the most beautiful gardens in Asia.
