More Than a Driver — A Guide, a Storyteller, a Friend - I met Sheroen completely by chance at breakfast, and what followed was one of the most magical, meaningful days of travel I have ever experienced. From the moment he offered to show me around, he didn't treat me like a tourist — he treated me like family. Like his own daughter. And I will never forget it. And for anyone wondering about safety — Sheroen has been driving a tuk-tuk for over 25 years with not a single accident (knock on wood!). I felt completely at ease from the very first minute, in the hands of someone who truly knows these roads and takes care of his passengers. Sheroen took me completely off the beaten path, away from the crowds of Kandy city centre, and into the real, breathing heart of Sri Lanka. We visited a breathtaking pagoda and a Buddhist monk school — the kind of place most visitors never get to see. We crossed a suspension bridge where locals were still panning for gems in the river below, and Sheroen paused to tell me about the devastating floods from the year before — how the bridge was partially destroyed, how families lost their homes — sharing this with the quiet dignity of someone who genuinely loves his homeland and wants you to understand it, not just photograph it. He then brought me to an Ayurvedic medical garden and retreat centre, where I learned about the incredible healing plants and herbs grown there, cooked a lentil curry from scratch, and received a wonderful massage. It was immersive, educational, and deeply relaxing all at once. Then — because I mentioned I'd been dealing with some health issues — Sheroen personally took me to see an Ayurvedic doctor. I cannot overstate what a remarkable experience that was. He didn't have to do that. He did it because he cared. We finished the day at a gem store and museum, where I learned about Sri Lanka's extraordinary gem-mining heritage and came away with a whole new appreciation for the island I was standing on. In one single day, Sheroen gave me a window into local life, history, wellness, culture, and community that most travellers spend weeks trying to find — and never do. He is knowledgeable, kind, generous, safe, and wonderful company. If you are lucky enough to find Sheroen, say yes to whatever he suggests. You will not regret a single moment. 🙏 If I could give a 6/5 stars on this platform, I would!!!

Kind, knowledgable, amazing local guide - Sheroen was absolutely wonderful - so kind in showing me places I hadn’t even heard of, pointing out local wildlife and viewing spots along the way, and patiently waited whilst I took photos and toured round the herbal garden. It was such a lovely way to spend my morning and I couldn’t recommend him enough! 10/10

Best Sri Lanka tour guide ever - Having Sheroen as our tour guide made our experience of Kandy more memorable. He took us to places we would never have been able to get to, not just tourists attractions but even where locals live and shop. We ate meals at fractions of cost compared to tourists areas. He was very polite, patient, friendly, generous and kind. He is very knowledgeable and good story teller. A well rounded guide indeed. Thank you Sheroen. You are the best

Our favourite tour guide ever! - Sheroen, is undoubtedly the second dad of every one in Kandy! He is absolutely the best tour guide you’ll find in Kandy and his service is second to none. If you want a local tour guide who really knows what he’s talking about and knows all the best places to take you to, look no further! Not only is he warm, friendly and considerate, he has the patience of a saint. He is incredibly considerate and takes his time to explain things to you. His takes the time to learn his customers interests and will show you things that resonate in ways you probably would have never considered yourself. He’s also really funny and relatable so you enjoy every moment of his tour. He was our tour guide for the two days we were in Kandy and he took us absolutely everywhere! He gave us an insiders guide to Buddhism is Sri Lanka, showed us where to get the precious Sri Lankan sapphire (I even picked up a ring), showed us a tour of ayurevidic gardens, took us to the temple of tooth relic, the Kandy viewpoint and even showed us some of the local wildlife. Added to that, we even managed to go spice shopping and took us to some local eateries for some authentically delicious food, places we would have never discovered without him. He also incredibly generously gifted me with some curry leaves from his garden when I told him I love cooking - such a super star! I can’t recommend Sheroen highly enough. I’ll be telling anyone going to Kandy to make the use of his services and insider knowledge. He truly made our time in Kandy memorable for all the best reasons. Nice experience - It was an unforeseen moment , commanded by pick me and we spent the morning alongside. Very smiling , friendly and good mood w they gave us a lot of information about life in kandy and made us discover a spice factory at the top. I recommend
