Excellent - Our tour guide was excellent. Our group was small at 4 people which meant all your questions were answered. Our guide made sure to point out the koala's, which are surprisingly hard to spot. She gave a lot of background about the animals and what happened to them as a result of the fire. Really learned a lot and this was very enjoyable.

This is something not to be missed - It’s a stunning place to go, the nature is amazing even after the terrible
Bushfire of 2020. We had been there two days before the fire wiped out everything, but there is almost no sign of that. Only in the amazing reports that Tom did we could realize how terrible must have been, especially for the fauna. But it is also heartwarming seeing how strong nature is. It always comes back. Tom is a great expert and explains every single detail, answers to all questions and encourages with his now iconic start “that’s a good question”! A must see!

If you want to definitely see Koalas - A long trip out from Kingscote but well worth the trip - informative and beautiful setting to see Koalas at night. We also saw Echidna wallabies and kangaroos. Our guide was informative and chatted freely .. The sunset over the waterhole standing a few feet from drinking Roos was a wonderful experience

Book it! Great bushwalking koala & kangaroo/wallaby tour - My husband and I just happened to be driving by, and saw the sign for the "Hansen Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, tours at 10:30 & (14:30) 2:30". We drove in and arrived just as the 2:30 (14:30) tour was beginning. The tour guide came over and we exclaimed that although we had not booked (strongly recommended), we would love to join the tour, if possible. It was our lucky day!! She had run for 2 more and allowed us to join the tour and pay at the end of the tour.
She took us on a bushwalk through the sanctuary, and pointed out local plants, showed us evidence of the 2020 fires and how they had affected the animals and the vegetatian, as well as what the sanctuary had done to help the animals that survived the fire get enough food and water to continue to thrive. She allowed the group to look for koalas and wallabies (and then pointed them out if none of us spotted them). She shared info about the koalas habits, diet, mating, etc and patiently answered any questions that we had.
After that part of the tour, we all got into a sanctuary van and she took us out to one of their several watering holes to allow us to see many kangaroos and their two black swans.
The tour was fun, informative, and it was great seeing animals in their own habitat! We would strongly suggest this tour to anyone who wants to go on a wildlife tour. You won't regret it!

An exceptional guided walk. - We visited Hanson Wildlife Sanctuary on a recommendation. We were not disappointed.
Tom our guide was fantastic! He is a wealth of knowledge on the local area including history and major events. We were able to view Koala's, Cape Barren Geese, Western Grey Kangaroos & Tammar Wallabies as well as the native flora. The casual walk through the bush was so enjoyable having Tom point interesting things out as he saw them and answering our questions.
A wonderful experience thank you Tom.

Informative - The tour provided quite a lot of environmental information both on the recovery from the recent fires and some of the work required to sustain the wildlife. We did see a number of Koalas although as I expected they were largely hard to see and high in the trees. There were a few Kangaroos although plenty of evidence of a larger number. It is a wildlife reserve not a zoo and my wife was a bit concerned that there were only a few photo opportunities and too much talking so didn't enjoy it as much as she had expected. It's probably not as tourist friendly as some of the other centres but it was badly affected by the fires and is still recovering.
