- Meteora - The journey begins from Halkidiki to Meteora, taking approximately 4 to 4.5 hours. Meteora is a remarkable rock formation in central Greece, home to one of the largest and most dramatically constructed complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second only to Mount Athos in significance. Six of the original twenty-four monasteries are perched on massive natural pillars and rounded boulders that dominate the landscape. These monasteries were established between the 13th and 14th centuries atop the rocks. Meteora is situated near the town of Kalabaka, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly, close to the Pineios River and Pindus Mountains. In 1988, Meteora was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its exceptional architecture, beauty, and religious and artistic importance. The name “Meteora” means “lofty” or “elevated,” and is etymologically related to “meteor.” The visit includes two of the six monasteries, depending on their schedules.
- Natural History Museum of Meteora & Mushroom Museum - An optional visit to the small museum of natural history in Meteora, which features educational exhibits and dioramas showcasing birds, forest animals, and mushrooms.
- Kalambaka - Kalabaka is a town and the administrative center of the Meteora municipality in the Trikala regional unit, part of Thessaly in Greece. The Meteora monasteries are located nearby. The visit includes exploring the town with ample time for a leisurely walk and enjoying a traditional Greek lunch. After lunch, the return journey will commence, taking approximately 4 to 4.5 hours.
