Meteora - Begin your exploration of the monasteries and get an up-close view of the sacred rocks. These rocks, seemingly suspended in the air (which is the meaning of Meteora), host one of the largest and most significant complexes of Eastern Orthodox Monasteries still in operation. Meteora uniquely blends natural beauty with cultural heritage, making it a standout destination among the world’s monuments.
Enjoy a panoramic tour of all six monasteries, offering breathtaking views, and visit 2-3 monasteries, depending on their opening days and your preferences. - Great Meteoron Monastery - The Great Meteoron (or Transfiguration of Christ) is the largest and most impressive monastery, preserving two ancient chapels: the chapel of St. John the Baptist and of Saints Constantine and Helen. The architecture of the Great Meteoron Monastery is a remarkable example of traditional Byzantine design. Today, it serves as a museum. The monastery is closed on Tuesdays.
- Varlaam Monastery - Consider visiting the Holy Monastery of Varlaam, the second-largest monastery in Meteora. Founded in the 14th century by a monk named Varlaam, it is dedicated to all the saints. Perched on a commanding rock near Great Meteoro, the monastery offers spectacular views! The monastery is closed on Fridays.
- Roussanou Monastery - Explore Roussanou for a unique perspective of the surrounding cliffs and nearby monasteries. Follow the path from this monastery to the upper main road and discover an off-the-road panoramic viewpoint that allows you to walk on bare rocks! The monastery is closed on Wednesdays.
- Holy Monastery of Saint Nicholas Anapafsas at Meteora - This is the first monastery encountered on the way from the village to Meteora. It stands on a very narrow rock, offering stunning views of the holy rocks and the valley!
- Monastery of St. Stephan - The Holy Monastery of Agios Stefanos is one of the few female monasteries in Meteora. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but some evidence suggests it was built in the 15th century. The beautiful wall paintings of the Catholicon were completed in 1560. This is also the easiest monastery to access. The monastery is closed on Mondays.
- Monastery of the Holy Trinity at Meteora - The Monastery of Holy Trinity is situated atop the most impressive rock and is the most challenging monastery to reach, as visitors must cross the valley and ascend 140 steps to reach the entrance. In the past, access was via rope ladders and nets, with the steps added no earlier than 1925. The monastery is closed on Thursdays.
- Battlefield of Thermopylae - Visit the site where, ten years after the Battle of Marathon, King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans bravely confronted the Persian army.
- Historical Information Center Thermopylon - At the historical center of the site, enjoy a 3D movie that transports you through time, allowing you to feel the presence of those who sacrificed their freedom, falling to a foreign conqueror.
- Leonidas Monument - Conclude the visit by viewing the statue of Leonidas, standing opposite Kolonos Hill, where the steadfast Spartans took their last breath.

Magical Day at Meteora - This was outstanding! The private tour with Panos made this a truly magical and memorable experience. He is great with kids and was very accommodating. We were very appreciative for the lunch recommendation. It was one of the best meals we had while in Greece. We highly recommend this tour. It is definitely worth it and we would do it again!

Memorable Day at Meteora - We had a priceless experience with Panos on a day trip to Meteora and Thermopylae. We were very apprehensive having to sit in a car for so long with a 6 year-old but so glad we decided to do this. Panos is great with kids and was very accommodating (think frequent WC stops). We never felt rushed and the visit to Meteora was truly magical. It is absolutely worth the ride out there. A big thank you to Panos for the lunch recommendation! One of the best meals we had in Greece. Highly recommend. Don’t hesitate to book this one.
