Arrival in Kathmandu at Tribhuwan International Airport
Kathmandu - Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative will greet you with a marigold garland and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel, you will receive a warm welcome with a refreshing juice, and a travel expert will brief you on the next day’s itinerary. You may also meet your guide at this time. Accommodations will be in either a three-star or five-star hotel, depending on your chosen trekking package. After checking in, you can relax at the hotel or explore the tourist market in Thamel, where you can purchase trekking gear in preparation for the next day’s adventure to Everest Base Camp. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Flight to Lukla (2800m/9184ft) from Kathmandu Domestic Airport and Trek to Phakding (2652m/8698ft), Duration: 4 hours
Phakding - Upon landing in Lukla, you will meet the team ready to assist with your trekking journey. Enjoy breakfast at a tea house before embarking on the adventure towards the Sherpa village of Phakding, the first stop on your trip. The trail is rocky but not difficult, as Phakding is at a lower elevation than Lukla. After breakfast, proceed past the Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality office, obtain your permit, and walk downhill through Cheplung, witnessing Mt. Khumbila. The path follows the Dudh Koshi River near Ghat, and after climbing the trails, you will arrive in Phakding.
Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11286ft) Duration: 5-6 hours
Namche Bazaar - Enjoy the stunning mountain views as you reach Monjo, where you will obtain a National Park permit at the Sagarmatha National Park office. Continue to Jorsalle for lunch. Afterward, trek along the rugged path, cross the suspension bridge, and follow the Dudh Koshi River. The trail becomes steeper uphill, passing the Tenzing Hillary suspension bridge. Continue uphill through alpine and juniper forests until you reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay at a tea house.
Acclimatization Day/ Explore Beautiful Sherpa Village Khumjung or Everest View Hotel
Khumjung - This day is dedicated to acclimatizing to the higher altitude, reducing the risk of acute mountain sickness. Namche Bazaar is a renowned Himalayan market and trading center in the Khumbu Valley. Many trekkers acclimatize here before continuing their trek to Everest, as it is a historic trading hub between locals and Tibetans. The town offers restaurants, cafes, ATMs, fast internet, and more.
Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,850m/12,687ft), Duration: 5 hours
Tengboche - Ascend the rocky and dusty trails to enjoy close views of Ama Dablam, Khangtega, and other Everest region mountains. The trail is narrow with small pebbles, so be cautious and give way to yaks, which are used for transport. Stay to the side to avoid being pushed. Continue uphill through rocky terrain and a zigzag route through the tree line, leading to a lush forest and finally to Tengboche. Overnight stay at a tea house.
Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m/14470ft), Duration: 5 hours
Dingboche - As you ascend through the Himalayan terrain, the elevation increases. Trek through the trail to Somari, continue through dry vegetation, cross a suspension bridge, and follow the rocky trail on flat land to the beautiful Sherpa settlement of Dingboche.
Acclimatization Day / Hiking to Nagarjun Hill (5,550m)
Dingboche - Situated at 4,410 meters above sea level, Dingboche offers another acclimatization day on your EBC trek, allowing your body to adjust to the higher elevation. The hill above Dingboche takes 3 to 4 hours to reach, offering stunning views of Tawache, Thamserku, Lobuche West, and the mirror-like Ama Dablam.
Dingboche to Lobuche (4,950m/16076ft), Duration: 6 hours
Lobuche - Continue towards Thukla, enjoying views of Tawache, Choltase, Arakamche, and Lobuche Peak. The walk to Thukla is smooth through the wide, dry Himalayan valley. After a lunch break in Thukla, ascend steeply to Thukla Pass, gaining altitude slowly and steadily. Rest at the pass and enjoy views of Pumori, Khumbutse, and other peaks. The trail is easy at higher altitudes but has loose stones. Continue for an hour to reach Lobuche.
Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17594ft), via Gorakshep (5,181m/16,994ft), Duration: 8 hours
Everest Base Camp - Reaching Everest Base Camp feels like heaven, surrounded by mesmerizing mountain views.
Gorakshep - This is a memorable and exciting day as you embark on the Everest Base Camp Trek. Before reaching EBC, hike to Gorakshep, the highest stop on the trek, closest to EBC. The journey has two parts: Gorakshep in the first half and Everest Base Camp in the second. After breakfast, follow the wide valley parallel to Khumbu Glacier, moving slowly and smoothly over rocky terrain.
Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m /18,188ft), and Trek Down to Pheriche (4,210m/13809ft), Duration 7 hours
Kala Patthar - Rise early to hike to Kala Patthar, the best vantage point for a 360-degree view of Mount Everest and its neighboring peaks. Witness the golden sunrise opposite Everest, enchanting your mind and soul. The steep ascent rewards you with extraordinary mountain scenery.
Pheriche - The sunlight over the Himalayas is breathtaking, with Everest standing majestically before you. Spend time cherishing the high Himalayan journey, then descend to Gorakshep, have breakfast, and head to Pheriche.
Pheriche to Namche Bazaar, Duration 8 hours
Namche Bazaar - After breakfast, descend to Phungi Tenga, reaching a lower elevation. The descent can be tough on the joints, so prepare well. This day involves hiking in the lower Everest region, with a longer journey compared to other days. Enjoy the familiar scenery from EBC, as the trail is easy and less tricky. Pass through several villages to reach Namche Bazaar.
Trek Down to Lukla
Lukla - The adventure to Everest Base Camp concludes as you head down to Lukla after breakfast in Namche Bazaar. The descent is steep, so be cautious on the rocky trails, as loose stones can be challenging. Enjoy conversations and jokes to make the journey more exciting. Continue descending to Lukla. This day is special, as many trekkers celebrate their successful Everest journey with cake and parties for guides and porters.
Fly Back to Kathmandu
Kathmandu - After breakfast, proceed to Lukla airstrip for your flight back to Kathmandu, enjoying the diverse landscapes from the aircraft window. Upon landing, return to your hotel and relax after the long journey to Everest Base Camp.
Departure Day
Kathmandu - Three hours before your flight, representatives will bid you farewell and take you to Tribhuwan International Airport for your departure back home.
