Arrival in Kathmandu
Kathmandu Durbar Square - Upon arriving in the sunny city of Kathmandu, there will be a briefing session about the trek, allowing everyone to meet and prepare for the following day.
Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2656M)
Lukla Airport Viewpoint - The flight to Lukla is undeniably thrilling, and stepping off the plane marks the beginning of the journey to Everest Base Camp. After arriving in Lukla, the trek will commence towards the village of Phakding, where the night will be spent.
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3450M)
Irish Pub - After an early breakfast, the trek officially begins. The path from Phakding involves crossing rivers via suspension bridges. The pace is set by the villages along the way, leading to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. The trail then ascends steeply to reach Namche Bazaar, where accommodations with excellent facilities await.
Acclimatization
Irish Pub - Acclimatization is crucial for a successful trek. Today will be spent acclimatizing in the renowned Namche Bazaar, with its array of restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs. Visits to Khunde Hospital, established by Sir Edmund Hillary, or a walk to the Everest View Hotel above Namche to witness the sunset over Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest are options.
Trek to Tengboche (3870m)
Tengboche Gompa - The day starts with a gentle walk to Phulki, continuing to Tengboche village, known for its monastery, the largest in the Everest region. Located within Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, and Mt. Thamserku.
Trek to Dingboche (4410m)
Dingboche - Chhukhung Path 7 - The trail descends through lush forests of birch, conifer, and rhododendron trees, reaching Pangboche via a downhill path to Debuche, crossing the Imja River. Continuing through the Imja Valley and crossing the Lobuche River, the ascent to Dingboche begins. This picturesque village offers a bucolic scene with beautiful barley, potato, and buckwheat fields, complete with grazing animals.
Acclimatization
Dingboche View Point - Another vital day is dedicated to acclimatizing in Dingboche, preparing for the high altitude and thin air. Exploring the village and climbing a ridge behind it to view six of the world’s tallest peaks, including Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Cho Oyu, is recommended. Rest is essential for the penultimate day of ascent.
Trek to Lobuche (4940 m)
Lobuche - The trail becomes increasingly challenging as the altitude rises. The ascent leads to the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The path traverses boulder-strewn slopes, reaching Chupki Lhara, a ridge offering spectacular views. The journey continues over rugged mountain terrain to Lobuche, a small settlement with views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari, and the Nuptse.
Trek to Gorakshep (5170m) / Everest Base Camp (5364m)
Gorak Shep - Each step brings the destination closer, starting with a relatively easy trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep. The subsequent trail to Everest Base Camp is more demanding, with an up-and-down route primarily on a glacier path. The first sight of Everest Base Camp is achieved here, followed by a return to Gorak Shep after a challenging day.
Kala Patthar (5545), Trek to Pheriche (4288M)
Kala Patthar - Kala Patthar is undoubtedly the highlight of this incredible trek. The trek to Kala Patthar begins at dawn to capture the sunrise over Mt. Everest. The first light of the day illuminates the breathtaking view of Nuptse Nup, Changtse, and Lhotse. This is the best opportunity for capturing stunning shots of Everest and its neighboring peaks. Later, the journey returns to Gorak Shep for breakfast before heading down towards Pheriche.
Trek to Namche Bazaar
Irish Pub - This marks the turning point of the trek, descending back to Namche. The walk from Pheriche to Tengboche is primarily downhill. After a rewarding walk, Namche is reached, where the last day near the mountains will be spent.
Trek to Lukla
Tenzing-Hillary Airport - After breakfast, the trek returns to Lukla via Phadking, revisiting the spectacular views of mountains, monasteries, and villages.
Fly to Kathmandu
