The Everest region, well-known for its picturesque mountain views and distinct tradition, is home to numerous trails, among which is the Everest Trek with Gokyo Ri. This trail offers phenomenal views of the Khumbu area. The journey begins in Kathmandu and takes 13 days, heading towards Lukla via flight and trek to the beautiful Gokyo lakes, passing through Sherpa villages such as Namche and Machhermo.
The trek proceeds north to Phakding, enters the Sagarmatha National Park, and continues to Namche Bazaar and further onto Phungi Thanga. The route diverges from the popular Everest Base Camp trail, going north all the way to Gokyo village. Here, a day’s hike will take you to the peak of Gokyo Ri (5360m) where magnificent views of mountains like Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt. Everest (8848m), and other peaks in the Mahalangur range can be enjoyed. In addition, the Gokyo Lakes and Ngozumpa Glacier are also prime sights to explore.
