• Asan - Situated in the heart of Kathmandu, Asan is a historic marketplace where virtually anything can be found, from spices and herbs to electronics and clothing. Typically bustling with shoppers, Asan is also dotted with occasional temples and ancient monuments along the streets. Here, visitors can pause to admire the Annapurna Temple, dedicated to the Goddess of abundance, where “Anna” signifies food and “Purna” signifies fulfillment. Along the alley, various temples can be visited, such as Seto Machindranath, also known as Janabaha Dyo, a deity revered by both Hindus and Buddhists in Kathmandu, and Aakash Bhairab, the First King in Nepal Bhasa, known as King Yalambar. The rickshaw will navigate through the narrow streets of Asan to reach Kathmandu Durbar Square.
• Kathmandu Durbar Square - With over 50 temples and shrines within close proximity, Kathmandu Durbar Square boasts one of the most concentrated collections of historical structures in the valley. This complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples, constructed between the 12th and 18th centuries, was once the seat of the ancient Malla kings of Kathmandu. Another notable feature is the white European-influenced building, Gaddhi Baithak, built during the Rana regime, where many ceremonial programs are held from its balcony. Visitors will learn about these ancient monuments from their guide before returning to the meeting point via rickshaw.
