Peregrine Treks and Tours - Upon arriving at Kathmandu airport, a representative from Peregrine Treks will warmly welcome you and transfer you to Hotel Thamel Park or a similar accommodation. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and get accustomed to the new environment. At approximately 4:30-5:00 pm, a pre-trek briefing will be held where the team will go over the itinerary and check your trekking gear. This is a valuable opportunity to address any questions or concerns about the trek, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable journey.
Drive to Syabrubesi - approx 7-8 hrs
Syabrubeshi Departure Arrival Station - After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, the journey to the trailhead at Syabrubesi begins by vehicle. The drive takes about 7 to 8 hours, with several stops along the way. The route crosses the Bhote Kosi river, offering breathtaking views of alpine landscapes, flat meadows, and rhododendron forests. This area is rich in wildlife, with sightings of bears, leopards, red pandas, and musk deer. During March and April, the rhododendron forests are particularly stunning, showcasing a variety of trees, birds, and butterflies.
To Lama Hotel (2470m). Walk approx 7 hrs
Lama Hotel - After breakfast, the trek towards the village of Lama Hotel begins, taking approximately 6-7 hours. The trail winds through lush forests, occasionally following the river. On the southern bank, towering pines provide cool shade, while the northern bank reveals sparser vegetation of scrub oaks and nettles. The ascent to Lama Hotel is steep, with an elevation gain of over 1000m by the time the destination is reached.
To Langtang (3420m). Walk approx 5 hrs
Langtang Valley - The trek continues up along the Langtang Khola, through dense forests of hemlocks, oaks, maples, and rhododendrons, reaching the national park checkpoint at Ghora Tabela (2970m). From here, the stunning view of Langtang Lirung (7225m) is visible. The ascent continues gradually as the valley widens, passing several Tamang villages, mani stones, and water-driven prayer wheels, until finally reaching Langtang village.
To Kyanjin Gompa (3780m). Walk approx 3 hrs
Kyanjin Gompa - Leaving Langtang village, the path gradually climbs through yak pastures and the quaint villages of Mumdu and Sindum. Crossing a wooden cantilever bridge over Langtang Khola, a wider valley scattered with large boulders leads to a moraine. Here, Kyanjin Gompa and the spectacular icefall from Langtang Lirung and Langtang Kinshung (6781m) to the north come into view. The path navigates through these boulders before a brief descent to Kyanjin Gompa.
Rest day at Kyanjin Gompa
To Lama Hotel (2470m). Walk approx. 7 hrs
Lama Hotel - Today’s plan is to retrace the path along the Langtang Khola towards Langtang village and then to Ghora Tabela (3020m) before reaching Lama Hotel, where camp will be set up for the night. The trail mostly descends, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
To Thulo Syabru (2180m). Walk approx 5 hrs
Thulo Syabru - Continuing on the same trail, the journey reaches the upper trail on the ridge, leading to the charming village of Thulo Syabru. This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse in the traditions, culture, and customs of the local Tamang community.
To Sing Gompa (3250m). Walk approx 5 hrs
Gosainkunda - After passing the school and army post, a steep ascent above the village leads to Dursagang. From there, the trail becomes less steep, winding through the forest to the top of the ridge at Fhulung Danda. Along the way, occasional shepherd huts may be encountered, but the area is mostly uninhabited. As the head of the valley is crossed, the trail levels out, eventually reaching Sing Gompa, passing through dense forest and enjoying the natural beauty of the region.
To Gosainkund (4100m). Walk approx 5 hrs
Gosainkunda - A steep climb up the ridge offers dramatic views of Himal Chuli and Manaslu as a backdrop. The area is a sanctuary for the endangered red panda. After passing a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebina, a ridge is crossed for the first view of the holy lakes of Gosainkund. Legend has it that Shiva created the lake by piercing a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after consuming poison. Stone shelters at Gosainkund are used by pilgrims who visit to worship and bathe during the full-moon festival each August.
To Duphi Charu (3450m). Walk approx 7 hrs
Chisapani - Continuing the climb, three additional lakes near the Laurebina Pass (4610m) are passed before descending alongside a stream to the national park post at Bhera Goth. The trail then descends to a stream and climbs through scrub bamboo to a crest before dropping to Duphi Charu.
To Army camp (3220m). Walk approx 6 hrs
Chisapani - The ascent continues through the ravines until reaching Tharepati. Along the ridge, views of the Helambu region can be enjoyed. Afterward, the descent to the tree line offers beautiful waterfalls and rhododendron forest on the way to the army camp.
To Thotung Danda (2150m). Approx 5 hrs
Chisapani - Descending from the ridge of Kutumsang, several lodges offer breathtaking mountain views. Continuing the journey, the charming village of Golphu Bhanjyang is reached, followed by a short climb to Thotung Danda, situated at the top of the ridge. The views from this vantage point are absolutely stunning, and waking up early to witness the sunrise over the magnificent mountain panorama is highly recommended.
To Chisopani (2215m). Walk approx 5 hrs
Chisapani - Descending through a dense forest of fir, rhododendron, and oak, the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang is encountered. Beyond, the trail is a gentle up and down, following a ridge to the campsite. This spot offers excellent views of the Himalayan range, stretching from Manaslu to Everest.
To Sundarijal, walk approx 5 hrs and return drive to Kathmandu
Thamel - Today marks the end of the trek, with final breathtaking views before a final climb to Burlang Bhanjyang (2420m). From here, the descent to Sundarijal is made, where transport awaits for the return drive to Kathmandu.
