Drive to Syabru Bensi (1462m/4796ft) by bus 7 Hrs drive
Thulo Syabru - The trek to Langtang Valley begins with a bus or jeep ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. This 6 to 8-hour journey includes many off-road segments, but the stunning mountain views, greenery, and local interactions make it memorable. You’ll see the Trisuli River, terrace farmlands, and glimpses of Ganesh Himal. The cityscape gradually transforms into a village and remote atmosphere as you pass Dhunche. Upon reaching Syabrubesi, freshen up at a local lodge and explore the area, enjoying local bakery items, cheese, and perhaps a cup of tea or coffee. Overnight stay at a local lodge in Syabrubesi.
Trek to Lama Hotel (2500m/8202ft) 5 Hrs
Langtang National Park - The trekking adventure begins today. After an early breakfast, start your walk by crossing the Bhote Koshi River and Langtang Khola. Gradually ascend to a site called Bamboo, being cautious in landslide-prone areas. Most lunch spots are riverside; you’ll have lunch at Ramche before continuing to Lama Hotel. This trek offers the chance to spot rare flora and fauna, including red pandas and langur monkeys.
Trek to Mundu (3430m/11253ft) 5 Hrs
Langtang National Park - The route passes through areas heavily affected by the 2015 earthquake. Langtang Village has been reconstructed, and tea houses are operational. After a brief stop at Langtang Village, continue to Mundu Village. Enjoy views of Langtang Lirung, Changbu, and Kinshung peaks. The views from Mundu are even more spectacular than those from Langtang Village.
Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3798m / 12460ft) 2 Hrs
Kyanjin Gompa - Leaving Mundu, head towards Kyangjin Gompa. This 2-hour walk involves a gradual ascent through beautiful grazing lands and crossing small river streams over wooden bridges. The local cheese factory is no longer operational, and the famous monastery is under reconstruction. Depending on your fitness and interest, you can hike from Mundu to Kyangjin Ri (4300m/14107ft) and return to Kyangjin Gompa today, or plan the hike for the next day. Overnight stay at a local lodge in Kyangjin Gompa.
Trek back to Lama Hotel (2500m/8202ft) 5-6 hrs
Langtang National Park - After enjoying the Himalayan surroundings, begin your descent via the same route. The change in direction offers a different perspective on the landscape and cultural settings. Pass through Ghodatablea and walk along the Langtang Khola riverside, arriving at a tea house in Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.
Trek to Syabru Bensi (1462m/4796ft)
Thulo Syabru - Today marks the last walking day of the Langtang Valley Trek. From Lama Hotel, pass through the culturally rich Sherpa village of Sherpagaun. The scenery becomes greener, with wide valleys and more local settlements. The western route leads to the Tamang Heritage Trail to Gatlang, while the eastern route crosses the Laurebina Pass to the pilgrimage site of Gosaikunda. Consider extending your trek for a few extra days. Tomorrow, take a 7-8 hour drive back to Kathmandu, completing the standard 11-day Langtang Valley trek.
