- Mustang - Driving to The Mustang, a high-altitude desert, is unlike any other experience in Nepal due to its barren, desert-like landscape with cliff formations. It is windy, elevated, and an extension of the Tibetan plateau, bordering Tibet. The main crops here are buckwheat, barley, and apples. Once a kingdom, it still has a king and a palace. Tibetan culture and religion are predominant, and one can explore ancient cave monasteries. The region is also famous for Muktinath, a pilgrimage site revered by both Buddhists and Hindus.
We start our journey from Kathmandu to Tatopani, a natural hot spring. From Beni to Muktinath, the rough and tough road makes driving more thrilling and memorable.
Experience the unique windswept, desert-like valleys and cliffs that have been eroded over millions of years. Immerse yourself in authentic Tibetan culture, explore ancient cave monasteries, and see flat-roofed stone houses and ruins of ancient fortresses. Hike through fields of buckwheat and barley, and apple orchards, and enjoy views of peaks like Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tilicho, and Annapurna I.

Due to its stunning landscape and distinctive Tibetan culture, the area attracts a large number of trekkers and pilgrims. Muktinath, home to the largest Hindu temple, Muktinath Temple, is a major attraction. In the vicinity of the temple, visitors should not miss Jawala Ji and the monasteries. Within the temple grounds, there are 108 taps with water continuously flowing from the head of a wild boar, which Hindus believe is an incarnation of God Vishnu. Pilgrims believe that bathing in these taps and taking a dip in the two ponds will cleanse all bad karma.
In October, an apple garden enhances the charm and picturesque quality of this unique landscape.
