Drive from Kathmandu to MachhaKhola (890 m) (157 Km - 9/10 hours)
Machhakhola - The exciting adventure of the Manaslu Circuit trek begins with a long and thrilling overland journey to the warmer regions of the Gorkha district, reaching Arughat, a moderate-sized town with a subtropical climate. The drive continues on a dirt road for an hour to reach the first overnight stop at Machha-Khola, a small farming village gradually developing into a town due to improved road access.
Trek from Machhakhola to Jagat 1,410 m – 7/8 hrs.
Jagat - Departing from the fishing village of Maccha-Khola, the morning walk follows the banks of the Buri-Gandaki River upstream for several hours to reach Khorla-Beshi. The path then winds towards Tatopani, a village known for its natural hot springs. If time permits, travelers can enjoy a refreshing warm bath before continuing the trek with a climb to Jagat village for an overnight stay. Jagat is a charming and sizable village with numerous shops and well-stocked stores, offering simple yet pleasant lodges for accommodation.
Trek from Jagat to Deng 1,860 m – 7/8 hrs.
Gorkha - After a delightful overnight stay at Jagat village, the trek continues, ascending past rural farm villages and descending to cross a bridge to Nugget, eventually reaching Philim, one of the larger villages in this remote farming region with many scattered houses. From Philim, the trek leads through farm terraces of golden wheat and barley fields, climbing above a rocky ridge within a bamboo forest to reach Deng village for an overnight stop.
Trek from Deng to Namrung 2660 m – 7/8 hrs.
Gorkha - The morning trek from Dyang leads to a cooler region with an increase in altitude. The route ascends to higher areas, then descends briefly to a riverside to reach Bihi Bazaar, a small village near the river. From Bihi, the trek follows the Buri Gandaki River, crossing it to enter small farm villages and cultivated fields of barley, wheat, and millet, eventually reaching Numrung village. The trek continues past Banjham, Lhi, and Sho, with an hour’s climb to Shrimp village, leading to Lo Gaon, a lovely place with excellent views of Manaslu’s North Face.
Trek from Namrung - Shyala 3,520 m – 7/8 hrs.
Gorkha - After Namrung, the tree line fades, leaving only short juniper bushes and willow trees. The trek follows a pleasant path with views of peaks, culminating in an overnight stop at Sama-Gaon, one of the largest villages in the remote North Mid-West Himalaya. Sama-Gaon is located on the route to Manaslu base camp, Larke-la pass, and the Tibet border.
Trek to Samagaun via Pungyen Monastery Hike
Samagaun - After a hearty breakfast, the trek begins, captivating the senses for the next 6 to 7 hours. The trail leads to the enchanting village of Samagaun, offering breathtaking views of the magnificent Mount Manaslu. Along the way, two significant vantage points provide panoramic vistas of this awe-inspiring peak. In the village of Lho, travelers pause to admire the mesmerizing view of Mount Manaslu, its snow-capped summit standing tall and commanding attention. Continuing on, they reach Syala, another vantage point offering a stunning perspective of this mighty mountain, leaving an indelible mark on their memories.
Day Hike to Manaslu Base Camp 4800m or Rest Day
Gorkha - A rest day in Sama Gaon is ideal for necessary acclimatization before the climb to the high Manaslu base camp at 4800 m. Travelers can explore this fascinating village, which shares a culture and traditional way of life similar to Tibet.
Trek from Samagaun to Samdo (3860 m) – 4/5 hrs.
Gorkha - After a pleasant stay at Sama Gaon, the route ascends to Samdu and beyond. The walk to Samdu is relatively short and can be completed in a few hours, though the high altitude and dry air make the pace slower. The route gradually leads to Samdo village, the last settlement before the Larke-la base and pass. Overnight in this intriguing village, which has a strong Tibetan influence due to its proximity to the Tibet border, where trade still flourishes.
Trek from Samdo to Dharmasala (4460 m) – 4/5 hrs.
Gorkha - The journey begins in the morning with a downhill trek to the Budhi Gandaki River. After crossing the river, the trek ascends through Larkya Bazaar and the Valley of Salka Khola towards Dharmasala, which is not a lodge but a convenient place to stay overnight. It is 7 km away and takes about 4 hours to reach on a typical day. There is a high chance of spotting blue sheep. This place is also known as Larke Phedi. Overnight stay at Dharmasala.
Trek to Bhimtang (3720 m) via Cross the Larky La Pass (5106 m) -7/8 Hrs
Gorkha - The trek starts early in the morning to reach the top of Larke-la Pass at 5,160 m. The path initially follows a gradual winding uphill, then a steep climb to the highest point of the adventure, Larke-La, adorned with thousands of colorful Buddhist prayer flags and stone piles. From the top, there are excellent views of Himlung, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. After enjoying the moment, a long downhill trek over snow and scree leads to a valley at Larcia. The trek continues on a moraine to Tambuche at 3,900m, then to an overnight stop at Bhimtang, a beautiful valley with several good lodges.
Trek to Tilje (2500 m) - 4/5 Hrs then drive to Besisahar by local jeep - 3/4 hours
Manang - The final day of the adventure involves a downhill trek through the forest, passing small summer settlements, then climbing terraced fields to Karche La, and descending to the Marysangdi River. After a few hours of walking, travelers reach Tilje village, following the Dudh (milky) river downstream and passing several villages, including Thonje. From Tilje, an hour’s climb crosses a bridge to join the main trail of the Annapurna circuit in Dharapani village. After Tilje, a shared jeep ride to Besisahar takes about 4 hours.
Drive to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels – 07 hrs.
Kathmandu - The last day in the high hills and mountains of Nepal’s Mid-West. After a marvelous experience and adventure around Manaslu, the morning drive leads back to Kathmandu. The drive passes through farm villages and terraced fields, reaching the large town of Besisar, then continues on a good road to Kathmandu, where the memorable adventure concludes. The afternoon is free for leisure and relaxation after the great trek around Manaslu.
Final departure from Kathmandu homeward bound or to respective destinations.
TIA - The final day in the land of Himalayan wonders in Nepal. Depending on the international flight schedule, travelers depart from the hotel to the airport for their flight back home or to other respective destinations.
