- Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - The Madu River is a wetland near the small town of Balapitiya, along the Colombo Galle highway. This is where the Madu River estuary is located. The river flows through a landscape that forms numerous islands, creating a stunning wetland ecosystem. Nearby hotels offer affordable boat rides through the canals, and there are plenty of places to stay, dine, and enjoy. A major attraction of the Madu River is the fish foot spa.
- Galle Fort - Located in the Bay of Galle on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, Galle Fort was initially constructed in 1588 by the Portuguese and later extensively fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a monument of historical, archaeological, and architectural significance, maintaining a well-preserved appearance even after more than 423 years, thanks to extensive restoration by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan government and many Dutch property owners within the fort are working towards making it one of the modern wonders of the world. The fort’s heritage value has been acknowledged by UNESCO, and it has been designated as a cultural heritage UNESCO World Heritage Site under specific criteria.
