Millennium Elephant Foundation - Located in Pinnawala, this sanctuary is home to around 89 elephants, including some baby elephants that were found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are cared for, fed, and trained by wildlife authorities. The ideal time to visit is during feeding times, offering the chance to see baby elephants being bottle-fed. Visitors can also accompany the elephants to a nearby river to watch them enjoy their daily bath.

Golden Temple of Dambulla - The Golden Dambulla Cave Temple has been a pilgrimage site for the past 22 centuries. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple on the island. In 1991, the Dambulla Cave Temple was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site to protect its magnificent wall paintings and over 150 statues in and around the temple.

Hiriwadunna - Looking for something traditional and unique? A delightful afternoon bullock cart ride is just the ticket, taking you to some of the most beautiful places on the island. It’s quite unconventional and certainly an adventure. As you ride in the shade of the forests, you’ll see the country’s historic sites and stunning scenery. What makes this ride special is the visit to a Sri Lankan village, where you can enjoy a cooking demonstration and a home-cooked meal prepared by local women in a mud house, followed by a canoe ride across a picturesque lake!

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Visiting the Sigiriya Rock is an unforgettable highlight of a Sri Lanka trip. Rich in legend and architecture, the 5th-century Sigiriya rock fortress is a World Heritage Site. Built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD), the ‘Lion’s Rock’ is a citadel of remarkable beauty, rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the renowned water-fortified town. It features a moat, rampart, and extensive gardens, including the famous frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, located in a sheltered pocket of the rock accessed by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.
