Airport – Dambulla
Bandaranaike International Airport - Upon arrival by flight, passengers will be directed to the arrival terminal. After completing immigration and visa procedures, collecting baggage, and proceeding through the green channel if there are no customs declarations, travelers will meet an Apple Vacations Representative. This representative, holding a paging board with the traveler’s name, will introduce them to an English-speaking chauffeur guide who will transport them to their hotel in Dambulla. (Pick up available at Negombo or Colombo City)
Golden Temple of Dambulla - Known as Jumbukola Vihara (Dambulla Cave Temple) in the Mahavamsa, the main Pali Chronicle of Sri Lanka, this temple is located approximately forty-seven miles northwest of Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhalese kings, on the main road to Anuradhapura. Dambulla is a site of exceptional interest, with its rock temples being the most extensive and ancient on the island, maintained in excellent condition.
Golden Temple of Dambulla - Dambulla is one of Sri Lanka’s most visited, attractive, and popular tourist spots. This historical and religious site is imbued with Buddhist influences, offering visitors a unique sensation even before reaching the city. (photo stop)
Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre - Situated in the Dambulla Secretariat Division of Matale District, at the heart of Dambulla town, this center was established in 1999 as a wholesale market for vegetables and fruits. A key feature of the DDEC is the direct involvement of farmers in selling their produce.
Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium - The Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, with a capacity of 30,000 seats, is located in Dambulla. It is the first and only international cricket ground in Sri Lanka’s dry zone, situated on land leased from the Rangiri Dambulla Temple. The stadium offers views of the Dambulla Tank (reservoir) and the Dambulla Rock.
Sigiriya Museum - This well-curated museum features a detailed diorama of the site, providing an excellent overview and explaining Sigiriya’s cultural significance beyond its natural beauty. The museum presents the theory that Sigiriya was a Buddhist monastery, although the prevailing belief is that it was a palace or fortress. (Combine with Sigiriya fortress)
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Rising dramatically from the central plains, the mysterious rocky outcrop of Sigiriya is arguably Sri Lanka’s most striking sight. Its near-vertical walls ascend to a flat-topped summit containing the ruins of an ancient civilization, believed to be the center of the short-lived kingdom of Kassapa, offering breathtaking views over mist-covered forests in the early morning.
After descending from the giant rock, enjoy the taste of delicious Sri Lankan cuisine.
Optional Tours
• Village safari-USD 30-Canoe Ride, Bull cart ride, tuktuk safari, and Sri Lankan Food
Sigiriya - Kandy
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - The golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth houses Sri Lanka’s most significant Buddhist relic, a tooth of the Buddha. During puja (offerings or prayers), the heavily guarded room containing the tooth is open to devotees and tourists. However, the tooth itself is not visible, as it is kept in a gold casket shaped like a dagoba (stupa), which contains a series of six dagoba caskets of decreasing size. In addition to the revered main temple, the complex includes several smaller temples, shrines, and museums.
Kandy View Point - Climb the hill by Kandy Lake to reach Kandy Viewpoint and enjoy an unbeatable view of the city. As a popular tourist destination, the area attracts many vendors, though they often sell substandard items. The area is also known for high pickpocket activity, so visitors should remain vigilant. From the hill, one can enjoy stunning views over the lake and the city as a whole.
Kandy Lake - Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of Kandy, Sri Lanka, built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth. Over the years, its size has been reduced. It is a protected lake, with fishing prohibited. Many legends and folklore surround the lake, including one that suggests the small island at its center was used by the king’s helm for bathing and was connected to the palace by a secret tunnel.
Kandy - Nuwaraeliya
Nuwara Eliya - Nuwara Eliya is a city in the tea country hills of central Sri Lanka. The beautifully landscaped Hakgala Botanical Gardens showcase roses and tree ferns and are home to monkeys and blue magpies. Nearby, the Seetha Amman Temple, a colorful Hindu temple, is adorned with religious figures.
Ramboda Waterfall - As rivers flow over uneven terrain or down mountains, they often split into tributaries or form waterfalls. Occasionally, two tributaries of the same river may create twin waterfalls close to each other as the water cascades down cliffs and rocks. However, it is rare for the tributaries to merge after forming the waterfalls, creating a Y shape.
This unique and beautiful sight can be seen in the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya, at the Ramboda Pass. The Ramboda Falls in Sri Lanka, also known as Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella, is formed from Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. It forms a twin with Dunsinane Falls, created by Pundalu Oya, another tributary of the Kothmale River, and merges at the base to form a Y shape.
Gregory Lake - Gregory Lake was created in 1873 by the British-era Governor at the time, Sir William Gregory, supposedly for the purpose of providing electricity. However, the lake was primarily used for leisure and recreation after its construction. At its peak of fame, Gregory Lake was the most prominent attraction in the area and served as a place of relaxation for many visitors.
Sita Temple - The Sita Amman Temple, dedicated to Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, is located in the hills of Nuwara Eliya and is revered by Hindus as it is considered the only temple of its kind in the world. It is situated five kilometers along the road from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy. According to history, this is where King Ravana held Sita captive. An interesting feature of the temple is the presence of footprints by the river, believed to resemble those of Hanuman.
Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple - It was Gurudev’s vision, during his visit to Sri Lanka in 1980, to establish a spiritual center at Rambodha. With Gurudev’s blessings, Chinmaya Mission Sri Lanka purchased 10 acres of land in 1981 at Wevanden Hills, naming it “Rambodha.” It is located in central Sri Lanka, 3,200 ft above sea level, 150 km from Colombo (a 3.5-hour drive). It is believed that Sri Hanumanji set foot in these sacred hills while searching for Sitaji. Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda consecrated the temple on April 8, 2001, by performing Maha Kumbhabhishekam. This magnificent temple is now a significant monument, featuring a 16 ft idol of Lord Hanuman as the Moola Murti. Vinayakar, Dhyaneshwar, and Sri Rama with Mother Sita and Lakshmana are the parivara murtis.
Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden - Navigate through the maze of tea bushes and discover the origins of Sri Lanka’s renowned elixirs. Numerous tea plantations and factories are eager to offer tours, explaining the tea plucking and production processes, and allowing visitors to sample freshly brewed tea. A truly authentic Sri Lankan experience.

This activity is suitable for anyone over the age of 10, with safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing provided by white-water rafting instructors beforehand. Colombo - Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, boasts a rich history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, successively governed by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British. This heritage is reflected in its architecture, blending colonial buildings with skyscrapers and shopping malls. The impressive Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders the expansive Vihara Mahadevi Park.
