Colombo - Sigiriya

Hingula - Our first stop on the tour is Hingula. Here, we will embark on a village safari designed to provide an authentic glimpse into Sri Lankan life. You’ll explore the village and observe the daily lives of Sri Lankan people beyond the typical tourist spots, as this area is not a tourist hub. Discover the tools used, learn about meal preparation, and enjoy freshly made food. This offers a genuine Sri Lankan experience in a short time.

Sigiriya - The journey continues to Sigiriya, where we will stay for the next two nights.

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Sigiriya is renowned for its magnificent “Lion Rock,” which served as a fortress site. You can climb to the top of Lion Rock to view the fortress ruins and the ancient city. Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see when visiting Sri Lanka.

Dambulla - We will visit the breathtaking Dambulla Cave Temple, which consists of five different caves housing some of Sri Lanka’s most significant religious art. The oldest statues and paintings date back around 2000 years. From the caves, located approximately 150 meters above the road, you can enjoy stunning views and even see Sigiriya, where we will return for another night after Dambulla.

Polonnaruwa - Additionally, we will explore the ancient archaeological site of Polonnaruwa. With thousands of statues, ruins, temples, tombs, and more, there is much to discover. The buildings, about 1000 years old, are in better condition than those in Anuradhapura, which is much older. This place is enchanting, even if history isn’t your primary interest.

Sigiriya - Kandy

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - In Kandy, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth, another temple worth visiting. It houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic, the Buddha’s tooth. We will explore this temple with its golden roof, recommended by Lonely Planet and one of Sri Lanka’s most significant temples.

Kandy - We will also tour the beautiful city of Kandy, located next to a lake. Known as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy offers a scenic walk by the lake and a visit to the old city with its colonial architecture. There’s much to explore, and the operator will provide insights into Sri Lankan life.

Royal Botanical Gardens - If desired, we can visit the nearby Botanical Garden, one of Sri Lanka’s largest and most impressive gardens. It features a wide variety of beautiful plants, as well as numerous birds and monkeys in the trees. This garden is a top choice by Lonely Planet.

Kandy - Ella

Ambuluwawa Mountain Hill - On the way to Ella, we will visit the Ambuluwawa Tower, known for its unique architecture and breathtaking views from the top.

Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden - We will also stop at a tea factory to observe the entire tea manufacturing process, including rolling, fermenting, drying, cleaning, and packaging.

Nuwara Eliya - We will visit the charming city of Nuwara Eliya, renowned for its stunning natural beauty. Surrounded by mountains, it was a relaxing retreat for British officials during colonial times. Near Nuwara Eliya, we can also visit the beautiful Victoria Park.

Ella - You can take a train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, a journey famous for its scenic beauty as the train travels through picturesque mountains and untouched nature. Upon arrival in Ella, the operator will show you the charming city, and we will enjoy a meal. We will stay in Ella for the night.

Ella - Mirissa

Rawana Falls - On our journey south, we will stop at Rawana Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s highest and most stunning waterfalls. Here, we can rest and enjoy the view. Feel free to take your time and capture some photos.

Buduruwagala Temple - We will also visit Buduruwagala, an ancient Buddhist temple with seven large statues near Yala National Park.

Mirissa Beach - Our journey concludes at Mirissa with its beautiful beach. Here, you can savor fresh fish and cocktails if you wish. Relaxing with your feet in the sand is the perfect way to end an adventurous journey like this. If you prefer to visit another location in the south instead of Mirissa, just let the operator know, and arrangements can be made.
