After checking in at the front desk, enjoy a free tour of the processing facility. The tour guides work on tips, so be sure to tip them well! Learn about the sorting, grinding, drying, and packaging processes, and discover how tea transforms from shiny green leaves to the bits in your tea bag. The factory can be quite hot due to the drying machines, but the employees seem accustomed to it, as extreme heat is a part of Sri Lankan life.
BENTOTA
Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - Embark on a wonderful two-hour boat ride down the Madu River, home to a thriving ecosystem. Navigate through secretive passages created by the mangroves, and observe basking crocodiles and water monitors. Visit one of the small islands with cinnamon-harvesting locals, enjoy the famous fish massage, and watch waterbirds in their natural habitats.
