Hanalei Bay - Begin your adventure by launching from our private dock into the Hanalei River. As we paddle downstream, our guides will share the rich history of the Hanalei River and help you get comfortable in your kayak. We will then venture into Hanalei Bay, where we will spend most of our time. Here, you will have the opportunity to observe the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) before we head to the beach. Once there, we will land our kayaks and enjoy a 45-minute snorkeling session. Our knowledgeable guides will discuss modern reef ecology and highlight key features to observe while snorkeling. Afterward, enjoy a full deli-style lunch, relax, and feel free to ask any questions about the island. Our guides, who are native to the area, are passionate about sharing their local knowledge.
This tour requires an 8am check-in and runs from 8:30am to 1pm. We will provide you with snorkel gear, although you are welcome to bring your own complete set (mixing and matching gear is not allowed). Please note that full-face masks are not permitted on the tour.

We are a family from Hawaii, deeply invested in imparting the profound heritage and traditions of Hanalei to you. Join us on our exclusive river-ocean combo tour, which starts from our private pier and leads you to an undiscovered beach. Discover the art of snorkeling in the pristine blue waters of the Pacific, encircled by an array of sea creatures. Alternatively, you can partake in interesting conversations, unwind on the beach or enjoy a meal or some snacks. This tour is ideal for families with children aged 5 and above.
- Must be at least 5 years of age to participate
- Free & ample public parking available
- 1:1 adult to child ratio required for children under 12
- Participants are welcome to use their personal snorkel gear with the exception of full face snorkel masks. Full Face Snorkel Masks are not permitted on tour. All participants are required to use a traditional 2 piece snorkel and mask set.
- 225lbs weight limit per person (exception of up to 250lbs if 6’ or taller)
- Pregnant travelers 28 weeks or less are welcome to participate
- All participants must be in good physical health, can paddle on their own, & get in/out of kayak on their own without assistance

Kayak Hanalei will be the second building on your right as you enter into Hanalei Town; just after The Dolphin Restaurant. There is ample parking in the front and back parking areas.

Fun experience - Our guide was great and knowledgeable about the area. Kayaking was fun to get out to the bay and the snorkeling was great. Saw so many different specifies of fish , including a sea turtle , manta ray , and an eel .
The check in area had a local coffee shop , some shopping , bathrooms and changing area.

We loved this very... - We loved this very authentic and cultural way to hear about the island and get a really fun group snorkeling experience hosted by two amazing hosts. Kala and Kolu were both super fun, friendly and knowledgeable about the islands and their job. Couldn’t recommend this enough! Saw 6 turtles, tons of fish and an octopus!

We loved our kayak and... - We loved our kayak and snorkel adventure. This was our first tour right after we arrived and what a way to start! The kayaking was peaceful and we learned a ton about Hawaiian history, land, and customs from our guide. The snorkeling was amazing- we saw a ton of fish and a couple of sea turtles. I’d recommend this to anyone looking to experience the magic of the ocean of Hawaii!

Best kayaking and snorkeling - Fantastic! Great guides and explanation of the culture in the area. It was a great Kayak add into open ocean and then we went snorkeling. To top it off while we were having lunch the guides played on the ukulele, hands-down, a fantastic memory for us and the kids.

The guides were very... - The guides were very helpful, watched out for those who were inexperienced, and assisted as needed. Office was helpful when our rental car wouldn’t start. All around the best that could be asked for.

Definitely Do It! - Kolo was the best guide. Very patient and super funny. He shared so much history and interesting stories about the area and island. The sandwiches were better than expected. Would highly recommend taking this tour. Gorgeous river into the bay. All very easy to navigate.

Amazing experience - Had an amazing time with Kolo and Kala. They're super fun and amazing guides. They ensured that we had the best time during our trip. They're also super caring. My wife and I apparently snorkeled too far. And Kolo immediately swam to us to take us out to avoid any mishaps. Would definitely recommend them.

Amazing!!! - Sooo worth it! The guides, Kala and Kolo were outstanding. They were so kind, taught us so much history about the island and even played the ukulele/sang during lunch. Watching the waves while listening to beautiful Hawaiian music was magical. We saw two turtles and so many pretty fish! Definitely recommend!

This was a ton of fun.... - This was a ton of fun. While we were on the river, our guide provided all kinds of information about the plants and birds we were seeing, along with the history of the region. The gear was top notch and the snorkeling itself was a great experience. After snorkeling, the lunch was perfect.
