Best day in Hanalei! - Our guide, Gabe, made this day great! Everything we needed was provided. Bring sunscreen, hat, swimsuit and some muscles for paddling - it isn’t too strenuous, but you are responsible for your own boat. Sun and rain … the temps and weather add to the joy of this adventure. This is the best way to enjoy the ocean and beach in this beautiful location!

Awesome - Amazing experience kayaking and snorkeling. Our guide Kolo was very knowledgeable, attentive, yet laid back. Hanalei Bay marine life is so beautiful. Highly recommend this trip. (If you are doing the PM tour, bring a warmer shirt or towel for the way back.)

Relaxing and Completely Enjoyable Trip - This was my second time doing the kayak trip down the Hanalei River and into the bay. Be sure to wear sunscreen! You do not need to know how to paddle a kayak to do it. They teach you and you move at an easy pace Our guide was great. He took time to talk story and tell us the name and lore surrounding the mountains. He also cut some papaya off a tree and we ate it at the beach. Ono!! If you go for snorkeling, this is really beginner level. There are no reefs of consequence at this end of the bay. You do see a few fish. But the water is clean and clear and quite warm. Great to relax in. Families with small children can do this with ease, too. Everyone gets a life preserver. Water is calm and not really deep. Most times you can stand up. And the beach is great for kids.

Take this tour! - If you’re in decent shape, take this tour. The kayaking was fun but the snorkeling was majestic. We saw lots of fish and quite a few turtles up close. Very magical

Kayak Hanalei Did a Great Job! - First off, the guide, Gabe, was very helpful with rigging all us guests with proper snorkel gear - masks, fins and dry bags - before helping us with life vest selections and paddles for the kayaks. He then gave the entire group a run-down of handling the paddles in case there were newbies in the group. He also gave us instructions for turning, braking and such. Secondly, after safely launching each of us, we paddled to an open area on the river and he gave us lessons on Hawaiian culture and significance of specific mountains that were visible from the Princeville area. The paddle down the river toward the beach was great fun for the other family guests who made it a water splashing fight going to the beach and coming back after snorkeling. They had a blast and fortunately kept it to themselves. We had fun listening to their hoots and hollers. Once we got the area for snorkeling, he helped us with beaching the kayaks so we would not fumble around too much. We were then off to snorkel the reef where the water teamed with fish and sea turtles. It was fantastic. After the snorkel session, he offered the guests treats (water or juice, chips, and freshly picked papaya) which we all enjoyed. Then, we paddled back up the river to the Kayak Hanalei site/shop and offloaded with Gabe's help. The tour was just long enough to get in a good 1/2 day of exercise and friendly company. Thank you Gabe for making it memorable!

Very Good Experience - Kayaking the river was really beautiful and cool entrance to the ocean. Snorkeling was really shallow but still good. Our guide Cola (sp) was terrific, very knowledgeable and shared great information.

A lone wolf - Went as a single and they do advise you that as a single, you may be required to Kayak alone if there is an odd number. In my case there were 5 of us. As a single i had a little trouble keeping pace with the double Kayakers so I couldn’t hear much of the narrative of the trip. Kolo paused them once so i could catch up but being a single kayaker vs double Kayakers it was a bit difficult. I actually tipped the Kayak once trying to paddle harder . Kolo was good at helping me get going again.😂 As well, on the afternoon trip the ocean was a bit rough when leaving the river and the water was a bit murky for snorkelling. However,we did see a turtle and several different fish before paddling back. Overall, it was ok but i would recommend the morning vs afternoon trip and would prefer two people per kayak.
