Day Kayaking at Southern Uros Islands
This unique Uros Island kayaking tour begins at 9:00 am, following an early breakfast at the hotel. Our driver, Demetrio, will pick you up and take you to the Isla Esteves kayak dock.
The landscape near the local port departure is both stunning and picturesque.
Excitement builds as participants don personal flotation devices, enter the kayak, and begin paddling on the serene blue waters of Lake Titicaca.
However, beginners will first receive an introduction to basic kayaking techniques and paddling lessons from an English-speaking kayak guide.
This experience allows you to fully immerse yourself in nature’s beauty.
Paddling is done at your own pace, ensuring a relaxed experience.
The area offers breathtaking views where the high plateau sky and lake merge into one, with blue waterways, lush green reeds (especially during the rainy season), and native birds thriving in their natural habitat.
Participants will enjoy a panoramic view of the Capachica and Chucuito Peninsulas.
The expansive blue waters serve as a natural boundary between the Quechua-speaking community at Capachica and the Aymara-speaking people at the Chucuito Peninsula.
Upon arrival, Maria or Rocio will welcome you and invite you to visit their home (though sometimes the island may be empty if they are visiting family on the main Uros islands).
The first impression often leads to curiosity about how these islands were constructed.
No need to wonder! Your guide will explain their origin, history, lifestyle, and the fascinating construction of the islands while you enjoy some snacks.
For an additional relaxing experience, you may opt to ride on a traditional reed craft as it sails on the lake (optional and requires prior request).
Finally, the journey back to Puno will be through the main water channel, used by motorboats traveling to Taquile and Amantani Islands after visiting the Uros floating islands.
There will also be extra time to explore the main Uros Islands located at Wily River.
Lunch is included and may be enjoyed at Maria’s house.
The meal consists of grilled chicken or trout with vegetables.
After exploring the islands, the tour concludes with a return to Puno, arriving at Isla Esteves.
The driver will be ready to take you back to your hotel.
