- Langkawi - Known as the jewel of Kedah, Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 tropical islands surrounded by stunning azure waters. It ranks among the world’s top travel destinations for good reason. The island is abundant in natural beauty and cultural heritage, featuring well-preserved historical sites and numerous attractions that will leave visitors wishing they had more time to explore.
Prepare to be transported back in time as you delve into Langkawi’s rich folklore and captivating legends.
- Mahsuri’s Tomb - After hotel or port pickup at 9:00 am, the tour will visit the legendary Mahsuri’s tomb, the site where Mahsuri passed away. The legend of Mahsuri is said to be linked to Langkawi’s recent prosperity, and judging by its growing success, the island has overcome the curse.
Description
Mahsuri Tomb-Makam Mahsuri is a site dedicated to the legendary Princess Mahsuri, located in Kampung Mawat, 12 km from Kuah. It is also known as Makam Mahsuri. Many natural attractions on the island are accompanied by tales reminiscent of real English legends, with Mahsuri’s story being perhaps the most renowned.
- Atma Alam Batik Village - (Please note this attraction is closed every Tuesday) The first stop is Atma Alam, where visitors can observe the intricate process of traditional batik printing. Witness the blend of art and culture as wax and dyes bring the cloth to life. Take the opportunity to purchase hand-drawn silk and local cloth handicrafts as a memento of your visit.
- Beras Terbakar (Field of Burnt Rice) - The “Field of Burnt Rice” (Ladang Beras Terbakar) in Langkawi, Malaysia, holds historical significance dating back to the late 18th century. According to legend, during a Siamese invasion in 1821, the locals of Langkawi, led by a woman named Mahsuri, sought refuge in this rice field. As a defensive tactic, they set fire to the rice fields to prevent the invaders from harvesting the crops, leaving nothing for them to sustain themselves.
- Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls - Named after seven natural pools connected by a flowing river, Seven Wells Waterfall is one of Langkawi’s most enchanting natural spectacles. Situated within the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, the falls are divided into two sections: the upper pools and the lower pools, separated by a dramatic vertical waterfall cascading down a 91-meter-high cliff.
Cooling off in a refreshing natural pool is the reward for hiking through the humid rainforest to reach the tranquil waterfall, surrounded by leafy trees with playful monkeys swinging between branches.
First are the lower pools, accessible after climbing around 200 steps. These are popular for their easy access, view of the vertical waterfall, and large plunge pool at the base of a slippery rock face. Dedicated hikers can continue the climb, totaling 638 steps, to reach the upper pools. Here, you’ll find the waterfall’s namesake seven pools of varying depths, shapes, and sizes.
- Laman Padi Langkawi - Laman Padi is a living museum and eco-tourism attraction conceptually based on a love for nature within a rice ecosystem tradition. Spanning 13.86 acres, the natural setting offers a rustic view of the serene greenery of the 8.6-acre paddy field within the compound.
The rice heritage is invaluable, with history and traditions dating back hundreds of years. Visitors can appreciate this by exploring the exhibition at the gallery. The traditional practices of paddy farming, along with the artifacts displayed, are uniquely blended within the authentic setting of a paddy field environment.
- Pantai Cenang - Next, the tour proceeds to Cenang Street. Along Cenang Street, visitors can enjoy a walk by the beach, engage in duty-free shopping, and visit Underwater World, one of the largest marine and freshwater aquariums in Southeast Asia.
Cenang Street
Pantai Cenang is the busiest beach town on Langkawi Island, offering a diverse mix of cafes and restaurants, as well as souvenir shops and duty-free outlets along its scenic beach strip. Just a 10-minute drive from Langkawi International Airport, it’s a popular holiday destination for families, thanks to its kid-friendly attractions such as Underwater World Langkawi, Rice Garden Museum, and Kiki Club at Meritus Pelangi Resort & Spa.
- Eagle Square - A visit to Langkawi is incomplete without stopping at Eagle Square and Kuah town. Capture photos of the iconic landmark—the statue of a majestic eagle—that symbolizes Langkawi.
- Kuah - Then, head to Kuah town (just a 10-minute drive from Eagle Square) to shop for a variety of duty-free items. From tobacco and alcohol to luxurious perfumes, this is the ideal place to find everything you need and more.
