Nairobi to Meru National Park

Meru National Park - The driver-guide will collect guests from the airport or hotel at 7:00 am to head north to Meru National Park. Travelers will enjoy stunning views of the Mt. Kenya region, known for its lush, green vegetation. Arrival at the camp is scheduled in time for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. After some rest, the first Safari Game drive begins at 4:30 pm, offering a chance to observe the amazing wildlife inhabiting the park. The Meru and Kora sister parks are spectacular, featuring lush jungles, flowing rivers, green swamps, khaki grasslands, and striking termite mounds under a vast blue sky. These parks are rarely visited and remain pristine, offering a unique and rugged atmosphere. Visitors may encounter Grevy’s zebras, elephants, Bohor reedbucks, hartebeests, pythons, puff adders, cobras, buffalos, and over 427 species of birds. Return to the camp in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Meru National Park is renowned for its lions and is famously linked to Elsa the Lioness and the film “Born Free,” a 1966 Technicolor British drama starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as Joy and George Adamson, a real-life couple who raised Elsa, an orphaned lion cub, to adulthood. Elsa’s Grave is located at the southern end of Meru National Park, near the southern bank of the Ura River. The park is one of the premier locations in Kenya to observe rhinos in their natural habitat. The fenced 83 sq km Rhino Sanctuary is home to 34 black and 70 white rhinos. Enjoy a packed lunch in the park, continue with the game drives, and later return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Meru National Park KENYA - This marks the final day of the safari. Enjoy breakfast before departing for Nairobi, arriving late in the afternoon. This tour can also be customized to continue to Ol Pejeta Conservancy upon request.
