Maasai Mara National Reserve - Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

7:00 hrs. – Guests will be picked up from their hotel, residence, Nairobi airport, or any preferred location for a brief transfer to Wilson Airport.

They will board a plane for an approximately one-hour scenic flight to the Masai Mara.

During the flight, passengers will enjoy a breathtaking view of the expansive Kenyan landscape. Along the way, they can spot the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro and the impressive escarpment of the Great Rift Valley.

Upon landing mid-morning at the Mara airstrip, a Natural World Kenya Safaris guide will greet them in a private, open-top 4 x 4 Safari Jeep.

On the way to the safari lodge or tented camp, guests will enjoy their first short game drive in the magnificent reserve. After settling in and refreshing, they will be ready for lunch.

During lunch, the guide will provide information about the park, its wildlife, and the various areas available for exploration.

On safari, early risers can watch the golden light of dawn spread across the fields. This is an excellent time for game viewing as the cool air brings wildlife out into the new day.

The Masai Mara is home to Africa’s ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Additionally, the park hosts over 95 other mammal species.

Visitors during the Great Migration season (July – October) can witness a spectacular movement of wildlife crossing the Mara River from the Serengeti. Thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles enter the park in search of lush grasses.

Guests will become accustomed to the rhythms of safari life. They can discuss their plans for the day with their guide, deciding which areas of the reserve to explore and which wildlife to observe more closely.

There are additional experiences to enhance the visit. An optional tour to a local Maasai village offers a chance to meet indigenous people and learn about their culture. The guide can arrange this visit.

For an extraordinary adventure, guests can opt for a pre-dawn hot air balloon flight over the park. Rising with the sun, they will witness the reserve awakening with light and wildlife. This unforgettable experience can be arranged by the guide.

On the fourth and final day, guests can enjoy an early morning game drive to revisit their favorite spots in the park. By now, they are seasoned safari-goers with knowledge about the wildlife and the reserve.

Afterward, they will return to their accommodation for a hearty breakfast to prepare for the final game drive and the return flight.

Soon, it will be time to pack into the 4 x 4 Jeep for a last drive through the park en route to the airstrip.
