Memorable day exploring the park - I had a wonderful day exploring the Amboseli National Park with Francis (a very good and careful driver - more on that later!).
Pick up was easy (from my hotel and exactly on time) and then you have the first part of the trip along the busy Nairobi - Mombasa highway. It is a relief to leave it (2.5-3 hrs) so that you no longer need to overtake the slow-moving lorries (part 1 of why having a good driver is critical). There’s a breakfast stop with delicious fried mahambri but, as I got a breakfast box from my hotel, I only got an (over-priced) tea from there). After that, you are fuelled up and ready for the bumpy roads to the park.
To enter the park, stop at the gates and then go inside to pay the fee. It’s easiest if you already have an e-citizen account but if not, Francis helped with that too. Note that there are a lot of Masai selling beaded bracelets, carvings etc.
We spent a glorious 4+ hours going all over the park, stopping when either Francis saw something or I wanted to stop. Francis could answer my questions of what things were / or behaviours we saw, and he was able to predict where the elephants would walk so we saw them from a safe (but close) distance as multiple families ambled by. While the big cats eluded us, we saw elephant, warthog, gazelle, wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, ostrich, zebra, giraffe, and more.
On the way to lunch, we came across a jeep that had rolled onto its side as the wheel had come off it (literally). No-one was hurt and it’s part 2 of why a good driver is essential - I learned from the passengers that their driver was speeding along the bumpy, potholed, roads. I felt safe while being taken around by Francis.
Lunch was back at the same breakfast place and they offered a buffet of various meat/veg options. I’m vegetarian and it was easy to find things to eat. Lunch was served with a lovely juice.
And then it’s back to the city. I would recommend trying to stay awake during the drive so you can see the towns and countryside you pass through.
Thank you Valley Rocks and Francis for a memorable day!

Francis is the best! - Francis was spectacular. He made the experience rewarding. We saw every animal you would want to see in the park. Francis knew the ins and outs of the park so well we were able to be efficient and targeted in our visit.

Best tour & guide!!!!! - This tour and our guide was phenomenal! The best experience I have ever had on a tour. I normally don’t write reviews but I had such an amazing time and want everyone to know. Kelvin was the best guide you could ask for. We started the morning a little rough with a flat tire but he was so efficient and fixed it within minutes and we were on our way back to the Amboseli national park. He answered all our questions and kept us entertained from 5 AM until drop off at 9 PM! It was such a long day and his personality and patience made the long day seem like a breeze. I did this tour with my 4 year old and she loved Kelvin! He was truly a joy to be around. This company is definitely a smaller and overlooked than the bigger named Safari tour guides but, I promise it’s worth it!! They’re so personable and truly care about their customers. Please book with Valley Rocks Tour. Kelvin was the ABSOLUTE BEST TOUR GUIDE!!!

Amboseli day trip. - While day trip with driver Kelvin, who was really helpful and accommodative of my needs. Amboseli itself is definitely great place though it is matter of luck what you will/will not actually see. However, I believe the driver did maximum for his side.
It is truly whole day trip, 4.5 h transport, 4 h game drive, 4.5 h transport back.

Kilamanjaro is worth seeing. Beautiful from afar. - Kilamanjaro is magnificent. Worth seeing. We did the safari and stayed at the lodge. Ours was okay (will not name) but I highly recommend you do deep investigation on the lodge you select. Some look good, but rooms are not that great. Another warning: Be prepared for extremely bumpy roads at an entire new level. One day of doing these roads is a workout. Be sure your safari vehicle is in good shape. Ours was not.

Good but not amazing - During my volunteering experience in Nairobi, I had a free day and decided to go on a day trip. Originally, I planned to do the tour alone, but the organisers contacted me the day before, asking if someone else could join. I didn’t mind, so it ended up being a lovely lady, also from Italy, and I.
The visit to the park itself was fantastic. We saw many animals, and the driver/guide shared a lot of interesting facts about them. He was very kind overall, also stopped to let us take pictures of the Kilimangiaro along the way (even if you couldn’t really see it clearly) since he knew it wouldn’t be visible later on because of the clouds. However, I wasn’t particularly fond of the stop at a shop/restaurant along the way. We spent quite a bit of time there and were constantly pressured to buy something as we walked around. Later, we returned to the same place for lunch at around 4 pm, as the trip took longer than expected. This wasn’t an issue, but had I known, I would have brought a packed lunch and eaten at the park’s picnic site instead.
We also visited a Maasai village, which cost an additional $30 to be paid in cash directly to the villagers. Since I wasn’t aware of this in advance, I didn’t have any cash on me. Fortunately, the lady I was travelling with kindly lent me the money, allowing me to join the visit. The experience was interesting, but I felt a bit pressured to purchase items from their market. I ended up spending 4,000 KSH on three beaded bracelets and a giraffe keychain. Later, I saw almost identical bracelets being sold in Nairobi for just 300 KSH, which made it clear this was a typical tourist trap.
The overall experience was nice but I would probably change the schedule a bit to make it better!

Worst trip ever. Surprised I survived the driving - Worst day out in my life! From the start it was a nightmare and then all the way through. Believe me you never want to go one this tour ever!
Highlights of good and bad-
1. Told me 5 am pick up then turned up at 6.30 am leaving me waiting in reception whole time.
2. Guide watched tiktok and spoke loudly to driver for entire day. Tiktok videos are now the background noise on all the videos I took of animals for the day.
3. The driver drove like a maniac on the roads constantly texting and driving, overtaking on blind corners and even nearly crashed into another game viewer at a sighting because he was texting.
4. The "included lunch" was served at 4 pm on the way home which meant no food at all from 5am to 4pm that day.
5. The 4x4 vehicle was not a 4x4 and actually a combi so most roads we had to reverse and couldn't do and their radio was broken so no help finding animals (part of the whole point of having a guide)
Pros
1. The driver was kind and nice and tried hard even tho his buddy in the passanger seat had absolutely no manners etc.
