Maasai Mara National Reserve - Full day Maasai Mara: (A balloon safari can be arranged for 420 USD per person) Start a full-day game drive at 7:30 a.m. with a picnic lunch by the Mara River under a croton tree, witnessing the spectacular wildebeest migration. Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, embark on a full day of morning and afternoon game drives to explore the plains. Serengeti is Tanzania’s most famous national park and the largest, covering 14,763 square kilometers and bordering Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park. The park is renowned for the Migration, where over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras move south from the northern hills to the southern plains during the short rains in October and November, then head west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. The ancient instinct to migrate is so strong that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can deter them. The wildebeest traverse various parks, reserves, and protected areas, experiencing diverse habitats. SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO
Ngorongoro Crater - After a hearty breakfast, set off on an early morning game drive in the Serengeti. The name Serengeti, from the Maasai language, means endless plain, home to a diverse array of wildlife including lions, elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, leopards, cheetahs, warthogs, hyenas, and a rich variety of birdlife. Often, the migration occurs around the Serengeti, with millions of wildebeest and zebra mingling together, followed by predators.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - This area stretches from the Serengeti to Ngorongoro, where many local Maasai tribes reside.
NGORONGORO TO LAKE MANYARA
Lake Manyara - Enjoy a full-day tour of Ngorongoro starting at 7 a.m. and concluding at 3 p.m. with a picnic lunch. Depart to spend the night at Octagon Lodge.
LAKE MANYARA TO ARUSHA
Arusha Airport - After breakfast at the lodge, set off for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. The park is distinguished by its lush green vegetation, featuring tall trees of the groundwater forest, home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. Further along, the forest transitions into woodland, grassland, swamps, and beyond, the soda lake itself, where over 350 bird species, including flamingos, pelicans, sacred ibis, grebes, and storks, can be observed. At the park’s southern end are hot sulfur springs known as Maji Moto. Manyara is renowned for its numerous buffalo, elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos, and a wide variety of smaller animals, as well as the elusive tree-climbing lions. Depart for Arusha, arriving around 4 p.m.
ARUSHA TO NAIROBI
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport - Travel from Arusha to Nairobi. After breakfast at 6:30 am, depart for Nairobi on a luxury shuttle leaving at 7 am. Arrive in Nairobi around 3 p.m. and proceed to the airport or a hotel within Nairobi CBD.
