Awesome 4-day Amboseli Safari from Mombasa with Joppa Kenia Safaris - I did a 4-day safari from Mombasa booked through Joppa Kenia Safaris and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. The whole trip ran smoothly from pickup to drop-off.
Our guide was David, and I have to say the guy is awesome. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and had sharp eyes for spotting animals. Whether it was a lion hidden in the bushes, elephants playing around the swamps, or herds of zebra and wildebeest stretching across the plains, David always knew where to find them. He explained things nicely without overdoing it and made sure everyone in the vehicle got good views and photos. Thanks to him, we saw the Big Five comfortably during our stay. His driving was also careful and comfortable even on the rough roads.
We stayed at Amboseli Sopa Lodge, which was a really good choice. The location is excellent with beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds comfortable, and the food was tasty with a nice variety at the buffet. After long game drives, it felt great to relax by the pool or just enjoy the lodge atmosphere while listening to the sounds from the park.
The drive from Mombasa took time but the scenery changed nicely along the way, and David kept us entertained with stories about the area. Four days gave us enough time to enjoy morning and afternoon drives without feeling too rushed.
Overall, I really enjoyed this safari. Joppa Kenia Safaris did a good job organizing everything, and having David as our guide made a huge difference. If you're thinking of doing Amboseli from the coast, I would definitely recommend them.

Unforgettable Safari Adventure with David from Joppa Kenia Safaris – Mombasa to Tsavo East & Amboseli - My wife and I recently did a 4-day private safari with Joppa Kenia Safaris, starting with pickup from our hotel in Mombasa. We headed through Tsavo East, then on to Amboseli, with a good mix of time in Tsavo East as well. It was our first proper safari together, and we wanted something relaxed but immersive—David was our driver/guide the whole way, and he made the trip feel personal and special.
From the moment David arrived (right on time, with a big smile and a spotless 4x4), we felt at ease. The long drives between parks can be tiring, but he kept things interesting—pointing out birds and smaller wildlife along the way, sharing funny stories about the area, and always checking if we needed water, snacks, or just a quick stop. He had this calm, patient way of spotting animals that we would have completely missed: a lioness half-hidden in the bushes in Tsavo East, or a herd of elephants kicking up that famous red dust right beside the road.
In Tsavo East, the vast open landscapes and huge elephant herds were breathtaking. David knew exactly where to go for the best sightings without rushing us. Then came Amboseli—waking up to the snow-capped Kilimanjaro in the background while watching zebras and wildebeest graze felt almost unreal. We even had a magical moment with a big tusker (elephant) crossing right in front of us at sunset. David explained the behavior and ecology without ever sounding like a lecture; it made everything more meaningful for both of us.
The lodges he took us to were comfortable and well-chosen, with great food and views. Everything ran smoothly—no delays, no surprises, just good organization from the Joppa team. David’s knowledge, sense of humor, and genuine enthusiasm turned what could have been “just another safari” into one of the highlights of our Kenya trip. We felt safe, cared for, and completely immersed in the wild.
If you’re coming from the Mombasa coast and want a hassle-free, memorable experience with a fantastic driver who truly loves what he does, I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Joppa Kenia Safaris and ask for David. We came back relaxed, with hundreds of photos and even better memories. Highly recommended!
A very happy couple from Nairobi

Our soul-recharging 4 days in Tsavo East and West with Joppa Kenia Safaris and the brilliant Geo - We had just four days to squeeze in a proper safari from the coast, and choosing Joppa Kenia Safaris turned out to be one of the smartest decisions we made on our whole Kenya trip. From the moment they picked us up at our hotel until they dropped us back, everything ran smoothly without any stress.
Our driver and guide, Geo, was an absolute gem. He had this calm, confident way about him that made us feel instantly at ease. What really stood out was how tuned in he was to the bush, he’d spot things we would have completely missed, like a pair of lions resting under a shady acacia or a herd of elephants moving silently through the red dust. He explained animal behaviour, tracks, and even little plants without ever sounding like he was lecturing. We laughed a lot in the vehicle because he had a great sense of humour and genuinely seemed to enjoy showing us his country.
Tsavo East felt vast and wild, with those classic open plains and huge herds of red-dusted elephants that are so typical of the area. We spent long, peaceful hours just driving and watching no rushing from sighting to sighting like in busier parks. The highlight for us was an early morning drive where the light was perfect and the animals seemed more active.
Switching to Tsavo West brought a completely different vibe: more dramatic hills, thicker vegetation, and that beautiful Mzima Springs area with its crystal-clear water and hippos. The landscapes here felt almost prehistoric in places, especially around the lava flows. We were lucky enough to catch some relaxed leopard activity and plenty of giraffes browsing high in the trees. The contrast between the two parks made the four days feel much richer than we expected.
The accommodation was comfortable and well-chosen — nice tents/lodges with that authentic bush feel, good food, and hot showers after dusty drives (which we really appreciated!). Nothing was over-the-top luxurious, but everything was clean, safe, and perfectly suited to a real safari experience.
If you’re thinking of a shorter safari that still delivers big on wildlife, scenery, and that “away from it all” feeling, I’d highly recommend Joppa Kenia Safaris and specifically asking for Geo if he’s available. He made the trip personal and memorable in a way that went way beyond just driving us around. We came back relaxed, inspired, and already missing the African bush. Asante sana, Joppa team and Geo, we’ll definitely be back for more!

Just back from an incredible 4-day safari from Mombasa with Joppa Kenia Safaris – worth every minute - We had only a few days left after our beach time in Mombasa and decided to squeeze in a proper safari instead of just relaxing by the pool. Best choice we made the whole trip. We booked a 4-day package with Joppa Kenia Safaris and they handled everything from pickup at our hotel right through to dropping us back.
From the moment our guide George collected us early in the morning, you could tell they run things properly. The drive out of the coast into the red dirt roads felt like we were leaving one world and entering another. We spent the days between Tsavo and Amboseli (I think that’s the usual route they do), and honestly, the contrast hit hard, one minute you’re seeing massive elephant herds kicking up dust, the next you’re staring at snow-capped Kilimanjaro in the distance while zebras graze in front.
George guide had this calm way of spotting things way before we did. He’d suddenly stop the vehicle, point into the bushes, and there would be a lioness with her cubs or a family of giraffes moving so gracefully it felt unreal. We got lucky with a couple of really close cheetah sightings too, which made the whole group go quiet with excitement. Even the smaller stuff, the warthogs running with their tails up, the colourful birds everywhere, the hippos grunting in the water — stuck with us.
The lodges they chose were comfortable without being over-the-top. We loved sitting on the balcony in the evenings watching animals come to the waterhole as the sun went down. Food was decent, beds were good after long dusty days, and the vehicles were reliable with open roofs for proper game viewing.
What I appreciated most was that nothing felt rushed. Joppa let us enjoy the bush at our own pace, and our guide was always happy to answer questions or just let us sit in silence soaking it all in. Communication before the trip was clear, no surprise costs, and they were flexible when we wanted to stay a bit longer at one spot.
If you’re based on the coast and thinking of adding some real wildlife time without flying across the whole country, this 4-day safari from Mombasa is the way to go. Joppa Kenia Safaris delivered exactly what we hoped for, a proper, raw taste of Kenya’s wild side. We came back tired, dusty, and smiling ear to ear. Highly recommend.

Family Safari in Tsavo East & Amboseli – George Made It Special with Joopa Kenia Safaris - We did a wonderful safari in Tsavo East and Amboseli with our young son, and Joopa Kenia Safaris organised everything perfectly for us. George was our guide the whole way, and he really made the trip memorable.
We started with two nights at Voi Wildlife Lodge in Tsavo East. The location is fantastic right next to a busy waterhole where elephants, buffaloes and other animals come to drink. Our son loved sitting on the balcony watching them. The rooms were comfortable and the food was good. From there we moved to Salt Lick Lodge, which felt like a real adventure with its raised rooms overlooking the plains. We saw plenty of wildlife right from the lodge itself.
The highlight was our time in Amboseli at Serena Safari Lodge. The views of Mount Kilimanjaro were stunning every morning, and the game drives were excellent. George knew exactly where to go and had a great eye for spotting animals. He was patient with our little one, explained things in a simple way, and kept us safe and comfortable throughout.
The whole safari felt relaxed and well planned. We saw the Big Five, beautiful landscapes, and lots of birds. Joopa Kenia Safaris kept the pace family-friendly without rushing us. Everything from transfers to meals was taken care of smoothly.
If you’re travelling with kids and want a reliable safari company in Kenya, I’d definitely recommend Joopa Kenia Safaris and ask for George as your guide. It was a fantastic family experience we’ll never forget.
10/10– Highly recommended!

An Unforgettable experience of safari with George of joppa team - We did a 4-day safari from our hotel in Mombasa with Joppa Kenia Safaris and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our whole Kenya trip. From the moment we were picked up early in the morning until we were dropped back at the coast four days later, everything ran smoothly.
Our guide George was the real star of the show. This guy has eyes like a hawk and endless patience. He spotted animals we would have completely missed — from a lone lion resting under a bush to a family of cheetahs hidden in the tall grass. He explained everything clearly without ever sounding like he was reading from a script, and he always made sure we had the best angles for photos. What we loved most was how relaxed he kept the pace; he never rushed us when we wanted to sit and watch a herd of elephants for longer.
Tsavo East felt wild and endless those famous red elephants kicking up dust everywhere, big herds of zebra and giraffe, and a couple of exciting lion sightings. The landscape is so different from anything we’d seen before. Moving to Tsavo West was like entering another world: greener hills, the beautiful Mzima Springs with hippos and crocodiles, and more dramatic rocky scenery. We even got lucky with some black rhino views, which felt very special.
The lodges were comfortable, the food was tasty and plentiful, and the vehicle was clean and reliable with a good pop-up roof for game drives. Communication with the Joppa team before the trip was quick and helpful too.
If you’re staying on the coast and thinking of adding a proper safari without flying all the way to Maasai Mara, this is a fantastic option. Not too long, not too short, and with George behind the wheel it felt like we were in very good hands the whole time.
We came back with hundreds of photos and even better memories. Would definitely book with Joppa Kenia Safaris and ask for George again without hesitation.

Perfect 4-Day Tsavo Escape with Outstanding Guide Henry – Kilaguni Serena & Ashnil Aruba - My wife and I just got back from a 4-day safari split between Tsavo West and Tsavo East, and honestly, it was one of those trips that resets your soul. We’d been talking about doing something proper in Kenya for ages, and this nailed it not too rushed, just the right mix of wildlife, landscapes, and downtime.
We kicked things off in Tsavo West, staying at Kilaguni Serena Lodge. The location is spot on: our room balcony looked straight out over the waterhole, and every evening we’d sit there with a cold drink watching herds of elephants and buffaloes come in to drink as the sun dropped. One morning we counted at least 30 elephants at once, plus a couple of grumpy dagga boy buffaloes wallowing nearby. The lodge itself felt comfortable and low-key – good food, friendly staff, and that classic stone-and-thatch vibe that blends into the surroundings.
Our driver-guide Henry was the real star of the whole trip. From day one he had this calm, knowledgeable energy that made everything better. He knew exactly where to go without racing around like some guides do. In Tsavo West we hit Mzima Springs crystal-clear water with hippos grunting and massive crocodiles lazing on the banks. We also spotted some klipspringers bouncing around the rocky outcrops, a few lesser kudu melting into the bush, and plenty of giraffes, zebras, and impalas. The volcanic hills and acacia-dotted plains gave it a dramatic, almost otherworldly feel compared to other parks we’ve visited.
We then crossed over to Tsavo East and stayed at Ashnil Aruba Lodge. The contrast was striking – much more open savannah, that famous red-dust earth, and a real sense of raw wilderness. From our room we could see the dam area where giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks wandered right up close. One afternoon we sat by the pool and watched a big elephant herd come through, kicking up that iconic red dust. It looked like something out of a documentary.
Henry’s spotting skills really shone here. We had some excellent lion sightings – a pride of six just chilling under a tree one morning, completely unbothered by us. We also caught a cheetah scanning the plains from a termite mound, a couple of hyenas trotting along, and huge herds of oryx and eland that you don’t see as easily elsewhere. The birdlife was constant – we loved the lilac-breasted rollers and the occasional secretary bird striding through the grass like it owned the place. Tsavo East felt bigger and emptier in the best way; you could drive for ages without seeing another vehicle.
The whole 4 days flowed nicely – early morning and late afternoon game drives, relaxed lunches back at the lodges, and evenings swapping stories with Henry over dinner. No pressure, just good pacing that let us actually soak it all in instead of ticking boxes.
If you’re thinking of Tsavo and want a guide who genuinely cares about showing you the best without the tourist frenzy, ask for Henry. This was our first proper Kenyan safari and it’s set the bar high. Highly recommended for couples who want that mix of romance, adventure, and proper wildlife moments. We’re already planning round two.

Wonderful Safari with Excellent Guide and Beautiful Lodges - We really had a lovely 4-day safari from Diani to Tsavo East and Tsavo West. It was a well-arranged trip, and everything went smoothly. The accommodation was just perfect, especially at Kilaguni Serena Lodge and Aruba Lodge. Both places were comfortable, beautiful, and gave us a good place to relax after the game drives. Our guide George was amazing and played a big part in making the safari so enjoyable. He was experienced, patient, and very good at finding animals for us. We also want to thank Rachel for putting together such a nice safari. Everything was organized so well, and the whole trip felt special. We came back with wonderful memories.

From Diani beach straight into the wild — best decision we made - After a relaxing week on Diani beach, we decided to do a 4-day safari and booked with Joppa Kenya Safaris. Rachel was brilliant from the start quick replies, clear quotes, and she customized the trip exactly how we asked. The pickup from our resort in Diani was spot on, and the drive north was actually enjoyable with good stops along the way.
George, our guide, was the heart of the whole experience. He was patient, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humour. In Amboseli we spent almost two hours with a big tusker and his family while George explained everything about elephant behaviour. The way he read the bush and found animals was impressive lions mating, a cheetah with her cubs, and even a giraffes on the last morning.
We stayed in lovely tented camps with hot showers and great meals every night. The whole trip felt personal and well-organized. Rachel followed up after we returned to Diani to see how it went. For anyone thinking of combining beach time with safari, this is the way to do it. George made it unforgettable.

Best Safari Decision Ever: 4 Days from Diani to Tsavo & Lumo Sanctuary with Joppa Kenia - Just back from an incredible 4-day safari organized by Joppa Kenia Safaris, starting right from our hotel in Diani. We wanted something that combined the red dirt roads of Tsavo East, the dramatic landscapes of Tsavo West, and the quieter vibes of Lumo Sanctuary – and this trip delivered exactly that and more.
We were picked up super early (around 5:30-6am) on Day 1 by our guide George in a comfy pop-top 4x4. The drive up was smooth, with a quick stop for coffee, and we hit Tsavo East in time for our first game drive. Right away we spotted herds of elephants kicking up dust, zebras everywhere, giraffes munching on acacias, and even a couple of lions lounging under a tree. George has this incredible eye for spotting things – he pointed out a leopard in the branches that we would've completely missed!
The lodges/camps were solid good food, hot showers after dusty drives, and views that made waking up worth it. Day 2 took us through more of Tsavo East before heading to Lumo Sanctuary in the Taita Hills area. Lumo felt more intimate, less crowded, and we had some amazing sightings there too, including buffalo and more elephants at the waterholes. George explained so much about the plants, birds, and how the animals adapt to the dry season – it wasn't just "look, there's an animal," he really brought it to life with stories and facts.
Then Tsavo West on Days 3-4 was a highlight – the volcanic scenery, Mzima Springs with hippos and crocs underwater (we did the glass viewing), and chugging through the rocky hills. We saw rhinos (super rare and exciting!), cheetahs hunting, and tons of antelopes. George was patient when we wanted extra time for photos or just to watch a family of elephants bathing. He even packed great picnic lunches and always had cold drinks ready.
Everything ran on time, the vehicle was clean and reliable, and communication with the Joppa team (Rachel helped with booking) was quick and helpful from the start. George made the whole trip feel personal and safe – knowledgeable, funny when the moment was right, and genuinely passionate about the wildlife and Kenya.
If you're in Diani and thinking about a short safari escape, go with Joppa and ask for George if you can. This was hands-down one of the best experiences we've had in Kenya. 100% recommend – we'll be back for sure!
