Alongside the vast herds on the savannah, visit the Mara River to observe hippos and crocodiles. During the migration season (July through October), expect to see wildebeests and zebras of the Great Migration crossing the river in large numbers.
Mara River - On this day, visit the Mara River, renowned for hosting the highest concentration of vertebrates on earth. It is also a crucial hotspot for freshwater biodiversity. The Mara River basin is home to at least 473 freshwater species, including 4 mammals, 88 waterbirds, 126 freshwater-associated birds, 4 reptiles, 20 amphibians, 40 fish, 50 invertebrate species, and 141 vascular plants. Many species, particularly invertebrates and fish, remain unidentified or undescribed, suggesting there could be hundreds more.
